Receptionist

Orange County (Irvine, CA) Office  |  Full-Time, Non-Exempt

About FBFK Law

For more than 20 years, FBFK Law has been a people-first, entrepreneurial law firm. We are a team of builders, creators and collaborators who believe law works best when it's practiced with clarity, integrity and genuine human connection.

Today, with 150 people across TX and CA, FBFK is entering its next chapter of growth under FBFK 2.0, a deliberate plan to scale our people, platform, and capabilities. That momentum has been recognized nationally: FBFK earned 18 regional practice-area rankings (including four Tier 1) in the 2026 Best Law Firms® guide, 21 attorneys were named to the 2026 Best Lawyers in America® and Ones to Watch® editions, and the firm was named the #1 Overall Leading Law Firm among Small Firms in Bloomberg Law's 2026 Leading Law Firms rankings and to Fortune's 2026 America's Most Innovative Companies list.

Our Orange County team has earned recognition of its own, including a Tier 1 ranking in Commercial Litigation and a Tier 2 ranking in Real Estate Litigation in the 2026 Best Law Firms guide, the Orange County Business Journal's 2026 Best Places to Work and 2025 Company That Cares honors, and inclusion of our attorneys among the OCBJ's Top Litigators and OC 500.

Joining FBFK means joining a firm investing in its people and building careers — not just filling seats.

About the Role

Ready to be the face and voice of an award-winning law firm? As our Orange County Receptionist, you're the first smile clients see and the first "hello" they hear — and you set the tone for their whole experience with FBFK. No two days look the same: one minute you're greeting a client, the next you're helping pull off a firm event or keeping the office humming behind the scenes. It's a fast-moving, people-facing role for someone who loves being at the center of the action, and it's shared by two team members who team up on coverage so no one's ever on an island.

What You'll Do

Reception & Phone Support

  • Greet visitors, clients, and vendors in a professionally warm and welcoming manner
  • Answer, route, and introduce incoming calls quickly and accurately, taking messages as needed
  • Issue and track parking validations for client and visitor meetings
  • Schedule and manage conference room bookings and meetings

Mail & Office Operations

  • Manage incoming and outgoing physical mail, ensuring it reaches the right person
  • Keep kitchens stocked and clean, restocking at least once a day and unloading dishwashers
  • Maintain kitchen supply lists and place weekly orders within budget
  • Coordinate with building management and cleaning vendors on office upkeep
  • Set up conference room technology for meetings as needed

Events & Administrative Support

  • Support office events, including catering setup and cleanup
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support — copies, document compilation and editing
  • Process and route expense and reimbursement documentation as directed
  • Maintain supply inventory within budget and submit orders for approval
  • Help train new hires on front-desk and office procedures
Qualifications
What We're Looking For

You don't need a law degree — just a great attitude, a knack for making people feel welcome, and the ability to juggle a ringing phone, a waiting client, and a catering delivery all in the same five minutes.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in a receptionist, office assistant, or administrative support role; law firm or professional services experience preferred
  • A warm, professional, people-first vibe — you genuinely enjoy being the one who makes someone's day easier
  • Excellent professional verbal communication skills and telephone etiquette
  • A calm, can-do energy when the phones are ringing and the requests are stacking up
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams; ability to learn firm systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities and interruptions
  • Discretion in handling confidential client and firm information
  • Ability to lift and move supply deliveries and event materials up to 25 lbs.
Why You'll Love It Here
  • A front-row seat at an award-winning, fast-growing firm — plus real opportunities to learn and grow with us
  • A tight-knit Orange County team that has your back and shares the load
  • Variety, every day — reception, events, office life — never a dull moment
  • A firm that's investing in its people, not just filling seats
Schedule & Work Environment

This is an on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. position based in our Orange County (Irvine, CA) office, with occasional early arrivals or late departures to support firm events. The role involves extended periods at the reception desk as well as regular movement throughout the office.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $23.00–$30.00, depending on experience and qualifications, consistent with California pay transparency requirements. FBFK offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and paid time off.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a resume for consideration. FBFK is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
