Job Description
As a Product Manager in Real Time Payments (RTP) in Canada, you are an integral part of the broader Treasury Services Payments team that innovates new product offerings and leads the end-to-end cash management product life cycle. As a core leader, you are responsible for deploying real time payments at JPMorgan in alignment with the Canadian industry's launch of Real Time Rail. Utilizing your deep understanding of how to get a product off the ground, you guide the successful launch of the firm's RTP product(s), while participating in the industry's committees/working groups to ensure interoperability with exchange, clearing and settlement systems. With a strong commitment to scalability, resiliency, and stability, you collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
Key responsibilities of this position are program manage RTP deployment, deliver product capabilities to the marketplace to meet/exceed customer expectations and to generate incremental net income from new and existing clients. As a program and product manager, the individual will be accountable for leading a cross-functional team and all end-to-end activities of the product management and development process, including product strategy, business model/P&L management, customer experience, new product development/product roadmap, sales strategy, internal partner relationships, competitive landscape and marketing. They will work closely with key Product Managers, Project Management Office, Sales/Relationship Management, Operations, Technology, Service and Implementations across the bank. Additionally, the individual will be closely involved with Canada's Industry modernization effort including participation in Payments Canada committees.
Product strategy and execution

  • Set product direction and strategic roadmap.
  • Lead the development and execution of RTP products to fill competitive and client gaps. Serve as the \"product owner\" in an Agile development process, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in order to build requirements and manage the development of products and enhancements from conception to market-launch
  • Manage ready-to-launch activities including new business approval process, pricing, procedures, sales and marketing communication.


Program and project management

  • Manage the launch of new RTP products and platform technologies with internal team and stakeholders.
  • Establish appropriate governance, leadership and resources.
  • Author detailed product specifications and business requirements, establish project plans and milestones, and manage the project delivery with Planning, Development, QA, and other cross functional teams against assigned goals.
  • Identify issues and drive resolution.
  • Develop and track investment dollars and ensure projects are completed within established timeframes and budgets.
  • Utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to identify issues/trends and develop solutions and/or recommendations to address root cause.


Risk and regulatory management

  • Understand and manage country-specific market and regulatory dynamics and ensuring their product(s) are built to those requirements
  • Work with internal partners to ensure all control/compliance/risk activities are addressed during ongoing partner due diligence process
  • Serve as Product lead for internal audit and regulatory exams.
  • Participate in or lead annual risk assessments.


Client support

  • Support Sales activity. Serve as the Canada Payments product expert to J.P .Morgan teams during sales conversations
  • Work with Service to support client inquiry management.
  • Manage resolution of urgent technical issues while communicating changes to business stakeholders including Product, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Customer Support.


Business intelligence

  • Work with Finance and Business Management to build revenue plans and manage P&L.
  • Understand revenue drivers and trends.
  • Develop and maintain business cases.


Industry modernization

  • Participate in industry committees.
  • Ensure JPMorgan's roadmap aligns with industry vision.
  • Assess business rationale for initiatives.


Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant banking experience with demonstrated experience in Product Management or related discipline. Deep understanding of clearing/payments products.
  • Strong understanding of agile / product operating model frameworks; experience writing user stories and using Jira.
  • Project management skills with proven ability to oversee multiple projects. Build and manage efficient timelines. Understand interdependencies. Anticipate and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Self-starter. Execution oriented. Ability to take initiative with limited direction and influence as part of a team. Resourceful/able to navigate organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other Office applications.


Required Skills

  • Involvement in/understanding of payments modernization efforts in Canada and/or other jurisdictions (US/EMEA).
  • Knowledge of Canadian Payments rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional projects and interact at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience with regulatory exams/internal audits
