The Quality Engineer ensures the reliability of wireless products, leading testing for firmware releases, building test frameworks, and analyzing performance data.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Meter, quality is not a checkbox, it’s a core value.

Our customers rely on our access points to power critical infrastructure in their offices, warehouses, and campuses, where reliable Wi-Fi connectivity is as essential as electricity. This role ensures that every wireless product we ship performs flawlessly, from first connection to high-density load, in both controlled and unpredictable RF conditions.

You’ll lead the validation of our Wireless Access Points, ensuring seamless performance and stability across environments that reflect real customer deployments. The quality and rigor you bring directly impacts how confidently and quickly we can ship the networks that power the modern enterprise.

What success looks like

In your first six months, you’ll own and scale the release process for AP firmware which includes executing functionality, performance, scale and features tests across diverse topologies and conditions. By month twelve, you’ll have built a scalable, automated, and repeatable test framework and lab that allows Meter to confidently ship wireless firmware releases within hours, not days.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Lead feature and regression testing for Wi-Fi firmware releases.

  • Design and execute tests for functionality, features, throughput, and scale.

  • Build and maintain RF environments using tools like Candela, Ixia Chariot, OctoBox, or equivalent frameworks.

  • Work closely with developers to debug and isolate complex wireless issues.

  • Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Analyze data and publish metrics for every release.

Who you are

You’re fascinated by how wireless networks behave, the physics, RF environment challenges, the edge cases, and the satisfaction of seeing a client roam perfectly between APs. You bring both curiosity and discipline to your work, chasing down anomalies until you understand them completely.

You believe in doing things right: testing deeply, measuring everything, taking a data-driven approach, and helping build products you can be proud of. You care about making Wi-Fi invisible - fast, reliable, and something users never have to think about.

You have:

  • Experience testing enterprise Wi-Fi products (controllers, APs or Wi-Fi 6/6E/7 systems).

  • Deep understanding of 802.11 protocols, roaming (k/v/r), and channel/power optimization.

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, DHCP, security protocols).

  • Hands-on experience with traffic generation and performance tools (iPerf, IxChariot, Candela).

Why Meter?

The internet runs the world. Every purchase you make, video call you join, it's all packets flowing through networks. But those networks haven’t changed for decades. They’re brittle, complex, and surprisingly hard to set up in an enterprise space.

We started Meter to build better networks. We had to build everything from the ground-up: designing and building our own enterprise hardware, intuitive software, and streamlined operations to deliver great outcomes for our customers. Today, we build and deploy these networks at scale. Ambitious companies and enduring institutions like Bridgewater, Lyft, Reddit, rely on Meter to keep their thousands of employees and locations online and productive.

Our bet with Meter is simple: we will all use the internet more than we do today. We believe we have the definitive networking stack in place to enable business to do so as seamlessly and reliably as any modern utility.

Compensation

  • The estimated base salary for this role is between $170,000 - $240,000.

  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Meter's equity plan.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
