We are actively hiring for a Quality Assurance IT Manager! Join us and support CSAA IG in achieving our goals.

Your Role: This position provides leadership and direction to technical staff supporting CSAA IG's I.T. Systems. Must achieve competency level where they can manage highly skilled technical staff. This position plays a key role in the Information Technology Systems Division's Department management team in bringing current knowledge and expertise to CSAA IG’s IT Division.

Your work:

  • Works with product streams to perform Quality Assurance (QA) evaluations, examine upstream and downstream system impacts, and facilitate testing requirements for the overall product release.

  • Manages onshore and offshore testing resources for the successful development and execution of detailed test cases and test scripts.

  • Mentors and develops testing resources, imparts domain knowledge, and provides guidance through the testing process.

  • Prepares testing strategy documents and high-level QA estimations for all projects.

  • Analyzes and defines QA testing strategies and maintains overall test plans and strategies that drive and govern the execution of multiple projects and initiatives.

  • Documents test automation strategies and framework for project adoption and reviews and approves estimates submitted by Testers.

  • Reviews test plans and scripts documented by the QA team according to the approved test strategy document and approves test plans and scripts before the commencement of test execution.

  • Manages the testing life cycle (Waterfall or Agile or SAFe) depending on the type of approach defined in the test strategy.

  • Runs checkpoint calls with Testers to track the status and progress of test execution. Reviews testing results and approves code for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Reviews changes with UAT business partners and is accountable for obtaining UAT approval.

  • Reviews and approves final test closure reports and secures approval for build gating purposes.

  • Monitors and identifies risks during testing, documents mitigation plans, and drives consensus with respective stakeholders.

  • Works with the Test Center of Excellence (TCOE) or Program QA to ensure effective implementation and usage of test management processes and tools for all initiatives.

  • Participates on the CSAA's Test Strategy review board to review and approve the test strategies across technology workstreams.

  • Interfaces with Test Center of Excellence (TCOE) or Program QA concerning testing automation, performance, and security testing.

  • Supports Data Analysts in the definition of the test data management approach.

  • Identifies test data to ensure it satisfies Production test conditions and works with Test Data Management teams to load the appropriate policies to the QA environment.

  • Supports the Environment Management in the establishment and validation of the testing environment and supports

  • Testers in the definition of application and integration test scenarios and the preparation of test scripts and data.

  • Tracks key testing metrics and communicates progress towards overall testing goals to the IT core team and business stakeholders.

Required Experience, Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related area (Computer Science, Engineering, or Business) or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 to 15 years experience in a similar technical environment

  • 5+ years management experience in the P&C insurance IT domain area

  • Ability to plan, organize and achieve coordinated objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to adjust focus to meet changing priorities, alteration in strategic directions and shifting customer needs

  • Ability to plan, organize and achieve coordinated objectives

  • Ability to influence vendors on product/service direction and resolve significant business issues

  • Accountable for ensuring effective utilization of available resources and a cooperative, team atmosphere

  • Demonstrated successful track record of managing projects of medium to large scope, complexity and budget with documented track record of success

  • Demonstrated skill in conceptualizing creative technical solutions, documenting them, and presenting/selling them to senior management

  • Demonstrated blend of creative problem solving and technical skills for refining existing theories and/or developing new system approaches or competency development to seize opportunities to enable business success

  • Ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business

  • Exceptional business and technical writing skills and presentation skills

  • Superior project management, consulting, negotiation, customer service skills; as well as the ability to effectively model and mentor others in systems competencies

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills

  • Demonstrated track record in new concept development for a variety of projects and complex technical plans

  • Ability to multi-task within flexible working environment

  • Provides initial sign-off on release features after reviewing test activity worksheet and associated artifacts for completeness.

  • Identify training opportunities for tools, applications and personal growth areas. (may be able to be incorporated in mentoring bullet)

  • Strong Communication, conflict resolution and leadership skills

  • Lead a team of Quality Engineers by providing technical guidance and mentorship while modeling CSAA' leadership behaviors.

  • Develop and expand our test automation framework and test coverage.

  • Develop working knowledge of the entire application stack including tests at all levels. (In Sprint, Integration, and End-to-end).

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and with the wider product and development team to understand how new features should be tested and to contribute to automated tests for these new features.

  • Collaborate with engineers to define and implement mechanisms to inject testing earlier into the software development process.

  • Identify, share, and nurture the adoption of best practices in code health, testing, testability, and maintainability. You should champion clean code and the concept of the test pyramid.

  • Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents.

  • Seek opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business and provide more efficient processes.

  • Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions for software engineering problems.

  • Analyze complex software systems and collaborate with others to improve the overall design, testability, and quality.

  • Strive for the fastest feedback possible. Test parallelization should be a top priority. You see distributed systems as a core challenge of good test automation infrastructure.

  • Configure automated tests to execute reliably and efficiently in CI/CD environments.

  • Track and communicate test results in a timely, effective, and automated manner.

  • Work independently to take on well-scoped and loosely scoped problems.

  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

The national average salary range for this position is $152,010 - $168,900. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $136,710 - $202,500 . This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 17% of eligible pay.
