At Hubstaff, our mission is to empower people to have their most productive workday. We do this by providing the industry-leading workforce analytics and time tracking platform for remote and distributed teams.

We’ve been fully remote for over a decade—long before it became a trend—and we continue to believe that remote work represents the most significant shift in the modern workplace since the advent of the PC. Our platform helps more than 140,000 global users track time, gain visibility into work, manage schedules, and automate payments with transparency and accountability at its core.

We’re a product-led company with a winning culture, strong momentum, and a long-term vision: to become an essential part of every remote company’s tech stack. And we’re just getting started.

The Role

We’re hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Growth team at Hubstaff. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), remote position with long-term potential.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Growth initiatives and experiments across our platform. Working closely with product managers, developers, designers, and fellow QA engineers, you’ll help validate new features, test experiments, and improve the overall customer experience for thousands of remote teams worldwide.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced SaaS environments, enjoys hands-on testing, communicates proactively, and can operate independently with a strong sense of ownership.

What You’ll Do
  • Test Growth experiments, new features, and product improvements across web applications.

  • Create and execute detailed manual test cases and regression test plans.

  • Identify, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps and expected behavior.

  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Participate in feature reviews and provide early feedback on usability, edge cases, and potential risks.

  • Help improve QA processes, testing documentation, and release confidence.

  • Contribute to maintaining high product quality in a fast-moving, experiment-driven environment.

  • Work autonomously while proactively communicating risks, blockers, and testing outcomes.

What You Should Have
  • 3+ years of professional QA experience in SaaS or startup environments.

  • Strong experience with manual testing of modern web applications.

  • Ability to create clear, structured, and comprehensive test cases.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and QA best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • High level of ownership, autonomy, and adaptability in ambiguous environments.

  • Experience working remotely and asynchronously with distributed teams.

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently without heavy supervision.

  • Product-oriented thinking & understanding of QA in a fast-paced / experimental delivery cycle

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Playwright.

  • Familiarity with Allure TestOps.

  • Exposure to automation testing frameworks and tooling.

  • Previous experience in startup or high-growth SaaS companies.

  • Early-career experience in enterprise environments is a plus.

Location

Hiring in: Argentina, Brazil, Poland, Romania, Spain, Portugal

Compensation & Contract Type
  • Independent contractor (preferred)

  • Full-time (~40 hours/week)

  • Compensation based on experience and location

Why You’ll Love Working with Us
  • A remote-first culture built on trust, autonomy, and async collaboration.

  • Opportunities to contribute directly to product quality and customer experience.

  • A collaborative, supportive engineering environment.

  • Long-term product focus — build something you can truly invest in over time.

  • Competitive compensation for top talent.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
