As the recognized leader in Zero Trust Remote Access for OT, Dispel is trusted by Fortune 500 companies, utilities, and the U.S. Department of Defense. We're growing fast and we’re looking for a Senior Director of People to help us build and support the team that drives our success.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Engineer (IC 2) to join Dispel’s Engineering team. In this role, you’ll work semi-independently on small projects, leveraging your familiarity with Agile practices and deep product knowledge to ensure the highest quality for our secure communication platform. You’ll focus on manual testing, writing thorough test cases, creating clear defect reports, and providing detailed feedback to support cross-team collaboration while suggesting process improvements.

  • Execute manual tests, log bugs, and validate fixes with a strong emphasis on thorough testing practices.
  • Write detailed and comprehensive test cases to ensure robust product quality.
  • Create clear and concise test plans and defect reports, following guided routine testing tasks.
  • Suggest process improvements to address recurring problems and enhance QA efficiency.
  • Provide detailed feedback in defect reports to support cross-team collaboration.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA team members to manage defect tracking and resolve issues.
Requirements

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!

  • Experience suggesting process improvements to solve recurring QA challenges.
  • Some experience with automation testing (e.g., Tuskr, Selenium, JavaScript, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and manual testing methodologies.
  • Deep product knowledge of one or two verticals, with the ability to handle standard routine procedures.
  • Strong ability to write thorough and detailed test cases for manual testing.
  • Knowledge of test design, execution, and reporting, as well as general product and QA processes.
  • Experience creating clear and concise test plans and defect reports with detailed notes.
  • Ability to follow guided routine testing tasks and manage defect tracking effectively.
  • Experience providing detailed feedback in defect reports and supporting cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to work semi-independently on small projects with limited supervision.
Benefits

This position is an IC 2 at Dispel, and qualifies for:

  • Competitive salary and performance bonus
  • Stock options grant eligibility after 6 months
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous paid time off and holidays

The U.S. base pay range for this position is between $57,000 and $72,000/year with an expected Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) between $5,000 and $7,500/year (including bonus or commission). Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
