About Suno

We're building the world's first creative entertainment platform, where the entire world can feel the joy and fulfilment of making music. Music is for everyone: Our users include everyone from grandmothers creating songs for their loved ones, to Grammy winners using Suno Studio, our power tool, to make the most popular hits in the world.

Building the future of entertainment requires ambition. The pace is fast, the problems are hard, and the work demands ownership and intensity. For the right people, it’s incredibly rewarding: a chance to shape a new medium, work with a small team that cares deeply about quality, make music, drink too much coffee, and build something that millions of people use to express themselves in ways that were never before possible.

Suno is the fastest growing consumer entertainment company and the leader in AI music. We are backed by leading investors including Bond Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, IVP, Forerunner, Union Square Ventures, Alkeon, Quiet, Matrix Partners, Schroders Capital and, NVentures (venture arm of NVIDIA).

About the Role

We're looking for a Qualitative UX Researcher (6 month contract) to own the voice of the user across Suno's current user, subscriber, and power user experience. This role is focused on Suno's mobile apps — understanding how casual users and professionals alike use Suno, what keeps them engaged, and what's missing. You'll work closely with PMs, designers, and engineers to bring user signal into every product decision as it's being shaped.

You'll be embedded in fast-moving teams and responsible for scoping, executing, and synthesizing research at the pace of the product org. We move fast, decisions happen daily, and research is most valuable when it arrives in time to shape those decisions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives with high ownership and self-drive in that kind of environment.

Here's a song we made about the role: https://suno.com/s/paB0ytaXmjpX3iv9

What You’ll Do
  • Lead end-to-end qualitative research — interviews, usability tests, diary studies — primarily for mobile, but also web and platform experiences

  • Develop and deploy surveys that complement qualitative findings and provide lightweight validation for hypotheses

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to scope research, identify learning goals, and quickly synthesize findings into actionable insights

  • Deliver research at the speed of the product team, not on a separate research timeline

  • Advocate for the user across all touchpoints — from onboarding to creator tools to content discovery

  • Help establish and evolve research best practices and scalable processes to support rapid experimentation and growing demand

What You’ll Need
  • 3+ years of industry experience in UX research, with a strong focus on qualitative methods in fast-paced, embedded product environments

  • BA or equivalent experience in HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or a related field

  • Deep expertise in qualitative research design, execution, and synthesis

  • A track record of research that drove product decisions — you can point to specific features, pivots, or roadmap shifts your work shaped

  • Comfortable working with quantitative data alongside your qual findings

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach — you build genuine thought partnerships with PMs and designers

  • A proactive, flexible mindset — comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, very tight timelines, and a fast pace of output

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in being the single researcher at a startup (even though we have a UX team, we function with high ownership like being the single researcher in a startup)

  • Experience in mobile consumer apps related to audio, social, and music in general

  • Proficiency with AI and generative technologies in product experiences

  • Bonus points if you’ve used Suno to make music

Additional Notes
  • Must be eligible to work in the US

  • Must be willing to work 40 hours per week

  • This is an in-person role working at our LA office location 5 days per week

  • This is a 6 month contract, and there will be an opportunity to convert into a full-time position in the future

Compensation
  • $75 - $90 per hour

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
