Position Overview

As a QA Manager at GovWorx, you will be responsible for managing our small but effective Quality Assurance team. We are looking for someone that can help us evolve our current QA practices so that they exceed industry standards for Software as a Service systems. Given the mission critical role our software plays in our customer’s environments, we need to continuously monitor and improve our ability to develop high quality software.

You will be leading a team of 4-6 QA Engineers and will need to iterate on our framework for automated testing to ensure we can reliably certify software prior to release.

Note: This role is open exclusively to U.S. citizens due to the sensitive nature of the data and regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management:

    • Ensure efficient team operations including standups, retrospectives, and other ceremonies.

    • Hiring and team member performance evaluations/coaching.

    • Ensuring teams are enabled and empowered to deliver high-value software deployed in mission critical environments.

  • QA Process:

    • Produce clear diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans for our QA systems / processes.

    • Follow company architectural guidelines and industry best practices when developing QA automation frameworks / systems.

    • Use AI as necessary / appropriate to ensure maximum effective test coverage.

  • QA Automation:

    • Ability to write test automation that can validate across the entire stack; front-end, backend, and database.

    • Ability to write meaningful automated tests including Unit Tests, integration tests, and functional automation (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, etc).

    • Ability to write and organize manual test cases as necessary, or as a precursor to automation.

  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including support and customer success.

    • Providing consistent and meaningful progress and performance updates to senior management and the Executive Leadership Team.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an individual contributor working in software testing, preferably within SaaS or technology-driven organizations.

  • Minimum of 5 years leading QA Automation / Engineering teams.

  • Minimum of 2 years with direct management responsibilities (i.e. not just leading a team, but being an actual HR designated manager with experience using performance management techniques) for teams of 4 -6 members.

  • Experience writing automation in a modern framework such as Selenium, Playwright, etc.

  • Experience with Relational Databases such as MySQL, Postgres, etc.

  • Alternative datastores such as OpenSearch, Redshift, etc. are a major plus.

  • Strong understanding of web development frameworks and architectures.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Must pass FBI fingerprint and background check in multiple states

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CJIS compliance is highly preferred.

  • Background in public safety, emergency communications, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven platforms and their security considerations.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
