Job Description:
Merkle is looking for a hands-on Quality Assurance Lead to join our Digital Experience practice. This role combines leadership and active technical contribution—you will not only guide teams but also professionally design, execute, and refine QA processes. The QA Lead will partner with clients, analysts, and project teams to deliver high-quality digital solutions, driving improvements through both strategic oversight and direct testing expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and oversee QA processes for both functional and non-functional testing, including performance, security, compatibility, accessibility, and usability.
Create comprehensive test plans, write and execute test cases and scenarios, and manage test activities across multiple environments, configurations, and languages.
Manage QA deliverables, dependencies, and milestones to support successful project launches.
Track defect lifecycle from identification through resolution, collaborating closely with developers and project teams to validate fixes.
Communicate complex technical and quality-related issues in a clear and concise manner for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide timely feedback to internal and external stakeholders on test progress, results, and risks.
Lead requirement gap analysis and root cause analysis to drive issue troubleshooting and help process improvements to prevent recurring issues.
Facilitate defect triage with clients, track issue resolution, and report on success metrics and quality trends.
Partner with project management and client to align on quality expectations, testing priorities, and delivery timeline.
Identify opportunities for automation, lead team in developing automated test cases and scenarios, manage and contribute to test automation initiatives (Selenium, Appium), and drive efficiencies by reducing manual efforts.
Contribute to accessibility and compliance testing efforts aligned with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) per client requirements.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to QA Analysts and team members, promoting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to review requirements, estimate QA efforts, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
Represent QA team and make decision in cross-team collaboration through written and oral communications.
Create and maintain clear, well-structured test documentation to support repeatability and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of QA lead experience in a technology-focused role within a consultancy or agency environment.
Proven hands-on experience in manual and automated testing for enterprise-level web application with responsive design and mobile application in complex system and integration.
Experience in leading QA team with Scrum, and/or Kanban methodologies across several time zones.
Demonstrated to lead and grow QA teams while remaining actively involved in Agile testing processes.
Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent ability to coach and mentor team members.
Proactive approach to identifying risks, raising concerns, and proposing solutions.
Commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that exceed client expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience in Digital Experience Platforms and Content Management System (Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Contentful, Drupal) testing.
Experience in backend service testing and monitoring.
Experience managing test automation teams using Selenium and/or Appium.
ISTQB certification strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Demonstrated success in defining and scaling QA programs within an agency setting.
Experience utilizing Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Jenkins continuous delivery tool.
Programming or scripting experience with Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
The annual salary range for this position is ($78,000 - $126,500). Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.
