ROLE 👩🏽‍💻👨‍💻

As a QA Engineer at Superhuman, you’ll be the champion of quality in your pod — making sure everything we ship is fast, reliable, and delightful. You’ll collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Delight teams, deeply understand what we’re building and why, and own the testing process from start to finish. You will:

Champion quality in your pod:

  • Partner with teammates to define and deliver amazing product experiences
  • Plan and execute manual testing for new features and releases
  • Build tools and processes that make it easy for others to contribute to testing
  • Verify code changes and run regression testing as needed
  • Continuously improve our test processes and tools

Own and drive bug fixes:

  • Lead weekly bug triage, ensuring issues are fully documented and prioritized
  • Investigate and resolve issues that don’t require code changes, including debugging single-user problems
  • Track bug fixes within the pod and help ensure timely resolution

Expand our test automation:

  • Contribute to Playwright test coverage
  • Guide the team on where to focus automation for the biggest impact
SOUND LIKE YOU? 🙌
  • Experience: You have 5+ years of software testing experience, with at least 1+ year of writing and managing tests in Playwright. You have experience with both manual and automated testing.
  • Delight Focused: You take pride in building elegant and beautiful products with a remarkable level of quality. You care about the customer experience and have astonishing attention to detail.
  • Expertise: You use logging, SQL, scripting, and other tools to debug tricky issues and automated tasks and your testing workflow.
  • Problem Solver: You excel at understanding, breaking down and solving complex problems. You think deeply about the best way to test features and find novel ways to test novel features.
  • Asynchronous Communicator: You’re effective across various mediums (especially Slack, notion, and email) and can produce and consume detailed written materials as needed without sacrificing speed. You respond quickly and thoughtfully to unblock others and speed things up.
  • Prioritization: You know where your time will have the most impact and can focus your testing in critical or weak areas. You know when to ask for help, and offer to help when others need it.
  • Start-to-Finish Ownership: You own quality for your pods, putting in the work to test everything and speaking up when you have concerns.
  • AI Enthusiast: You believe AI will revolutionize how we work as well as the experiences that we create for our customers. Driven by passion and curiosity, you leverage AI to dramatically increase your own productivity and the impact of your team.
  • Proactive positivity: You demonstrate care and awareness for how your actions and words make others feel. You find ways to move forward from challenges stronger and happier. You choose to interpret situations positively rather than negatively.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
