What you’ll be doing

  • Contribute to and improve test strategies that align with product goals and timelines.

  • Help implement and optimise a Shift-Left testing approach
  • Advocate for quality at all levels of the product development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
  • Ensure clear documentation of test plans, processes, and results.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging QA technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate early in the development cycle to clarify requirements, design testable stories, and identify risks.
  • Coach developers and team members on quality best practices, test design, and the use of automation frameworks.
  • Promote a quality-first mindset by leading discussions on testing strategies during planning and grooming sessions.

You will thrive in this role if

  • Strong hands-on experience with automation tools, especially Playwright, Cypress or Appium
  • You enjoy helping the team grow when thinking about quality & feel comfortable sharing (QA) knowledge across teams.
  • You are passionate about preventing issues before they become bugs and can collaborate early in the SDLC to make that happen.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies, including functional, regression and have had exposure to backend and frontend projects.
  • Familiarity with market research tools and platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and working within an agile team.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • You work with persistence, curiosity and compromise.

What’s in it for you?

  • Flexibility Policy - Our flexibility policy means there is no hard cap on the number of vacation days you can take.
  • Temporary work from abroad - If you're based in the EU, you can work outside your country of residence for up to 180 days per year.
  • All the hardware you need and your own MacBook
  • If you are located in Hamburg or Berlin, you'll get a Deutschland ticket or access to a mobility budget with the NAVIT app to get you to and from the office space.
  • If you are located in Germany or Spain, you will have access to a Subsidised Urban Sports Club membership.
  • In case you’re located in one of the cities where most of our fellow Appinioneers are (Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, London, Madrid, Barcelona, or New York), you can get access to our Co-working spaces.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
