This is a remote position.
The QA Automation Engineer will support the Texas Education Agency (TEA) on the Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) IT Qualtrics application. This role performs advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the Quality Assurance (QA) section. The position involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing systems. The QA Automation Engineer works closely with the LASO development team to deliver software testing services, including test case development, automated and manual testing, data validation, and performance and accessibility testing. This role supports and facilitates the implementation of all applications and projects within the LASO group.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the QA section.
- Plan, budget, and analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing systems.
- Analyze user requirements, design documents, and other documentation to develop detailed test cases.
- Create and execute automated functional and regression test cases.
- Report and document all issues, test cases executed, test results, and testing summaries in detail.
- Perform manual testing and data validation.
- Perform SQL queries to analyze and manipulate data.
- Collaborate with the development team and customers to understand functionality under test, define test case automation, and communicate findings to the team.
- Execute performance and accessibility testing.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7 years experience testing complex web applications.
- 6 years automation experience with Java and TestNG.
- 5 years expertise in SQL.
- 4 years experience with Playwright.
- 4 years experience with workflow-driven automation.
- 4 years experience with JMeter/WAPT Pro or other load testing tool.
- 3 years experience with GitHub Copilot skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years previous experience with Zephyr Scale.
- 2 years previous experience with Jira.
- 2 years experience working with Texas state government agencies or Texas school systems.
- 2 years experience working with Grants or In-Kind programs.
- May require evenings, weekends, or holidays as pre-approved by the agency.
- Texas-based candidates are preferred.
