Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a communicator to support its Armament Systems business unit. The successful Communications Representative will use their experience and innate passion for omni-channel communications strategies, a strong writing skill set, and knowledge of industry trends. Armament Systems offers a diverse portfolio of battle-proven products, as well as an action-oriented environment where team members juggle multiple projects simultaneously and reprioritize quickly to meet deadlines.  

 

The Communications Rep will work closely with a cross-functional communications teams and business and division leaders to create strategic communications that tell our story to key audiences, both externally and internally. Self-motivated, poised and approachable, the successful candidate will be able to work independently while managing multiple deliverables in partnership with senior executives and employees, while also confident in offering communications counsel to business partners. 

 

This position will be located in Mesa, AZ, or Plymouth, MN. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Hybrid work schedule may also be supported.  

 

Strategic Development 

· Partners with peers, managers and directors on bringing the communications strategy and related workstreams to life through internal and external channels 

· Seeks out strategic solutions to a variety of situations such as program and capability proof-points 

· Can translate business goals into strategic communications plans 

 

Writing & Creative Mindset 

· Exceptional writer to tell our story: will find, conceptualize, and produce a diverse array of content (monthly newsletter, leadership messages, feature stories, videos, social, marketing collateral, etc.). 

· Develop, design or delegate to brand teams: data sheets, infographics, pull-up banners, or other business collateral. Ability to decipher key messaging points to creative copy 

· Support (or lead) content and page development of any business pages, featured stories on NGC.com 

· Ability to capture creative assets (photo, video) and produce content to aid in telling the Armament Systems story

· Have a track record of taking innovative and creative approaches for reaching target audiences; achieving and measuring desired outcomes and actions 

· Be intellectually curious and interested in learning about complex, highly technical topics - with a knack for taking those topics and distilling into engaging and digestible stories. 

 

Misc. Responsibilities 

· Support operating units by attending strategic meetings that could assist in content development 

· Support all-hands meetings at the business unit level 

· Support business unit milestones through event planning such as: leadership conferences, program deliveries to customer or facility openings 

· Other duties as assigned  

 

Basic Qualifications: 

· Must have one of the following: 

· High school diploma or equivalent, with an additional 7 plus years relevant experience; or BS degree, with an additional 3 plus years relevant experience; or MS degree with an additional 1 plus year relevant experience

· Foundational knowledge of Associated Press style writing 

· Strong writing and editing skills 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

· Graphic design, video production experience  

· Experience working in or with military, defense industry, and/or government 

· Experience working in a large and geographically dispersed organization 

· Strong business acumen; ability to understand the broader business impacts, provide recommendations, and clearly communicate to senior leadership 

 

Salary Range: $62,200.00 - $103,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
