Recently raising a Series C and backed by some of the top VC’s such as: Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, our recent expansion into CandyJarTV is only the beginning of our journey to becoming the next-gen entertainment powerhouse.

Inkitt is seeking a Public Relations Manager to be our resident PR expert and drive impactful campaigns, brand storytelling, and media relations within the romance and book communities. This role is ideal for someone comfortable taking ownership, working independently, and collaborating cross-functionally to amplify Inkitt’s brand presence.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute PR strategies that elevate Inkitt’s brand within romance, romantasy, and contemporary book circles—driving recognition as an industry thought leader in digital publishing and entertainment.
  • Secure earned media by cultivating relationships with journalists, influencers, and literary tastemakers who shape the romance and romance-adjacent genres.
  • Draft and refine press releases, media pitches, and executive commentary that reflect deep knowledge of romance trends, book culture, and influential fandoms—collaborating with marketing and content teams for maximum impact.
  • Identify and coordinate creative opportunities to feature Inkitt’s leadership and authors, such as speaking engagements, interviews, and panel slots at relevant publishing and romance events.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison between PR, marketing, and product to amplify romance book launches, author spotlights, and company milestones to targeted audiences.
  • Monitor media coverage in romance and book communities, analyze PR metrics, and report on campaign success with insights tailored to genre dynamics.
  • Respond to media inquiries and support crisis communications as part of a fast-moving team accustomed to the pace and expectations of top book and entertainment agencies.

What You'll Bring

  • 7-8 years of public relations experience, with a strong background in book agencies, literary PR firms, or entertainment companies known for their work in the romance/romantasy genres.
  • Demonstrated expertise in romance or book trends—fluent in genre lingo, community dynamics, and the evolving landscape of digital publishing, fandoms, and romantasy. Hands-on experience crafting creative placements and building media relationships in romance, book, or literary circles; comfortable elevating stories that resonate with passionate reader communities.
  • Expertise with modern PR tools for media monitoring, campaign analytics, and digital communications tailored for book and romance verticals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a storytelling mindset that brings romance narratives and brand stories to life with precision and flair.
  • Able to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments—able to hit the ground running on multiple campaigns.

At Inkitt, we strive to build a company culture and provide employment opportunities based on diversity and inclusion. We believe every author should have an equal opportunity to succeed, as should our team members. As a growing team from 20+ countries, we welcome everyone to apply.

We look forward to hearing from you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
