Founded in 1909 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop’s School is an independent, all gender college-preparatory school for 800 students in grades six through twelve. The Bishop's School seeks a Prospect Research Manager with immediate start.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Major and Principal Gifts (SFMPG) the Prospect Research Manager (PRM) is responsible for maintaining gift officer portfolios, conducting prospect research and assisting the Major Gift team with day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and frontline fundraisers, the PRM plays a crucial role in managing the moves management process for all fundraisers on staff, supporting gift officers in preparation for and appropriate wrap up of prospect meetings, and building the major gift pipeline.  
This is a 12-month per year on site position with office space in the center of The Village of La Jolla. S
ome schedule flexibility may be offered during periods when school is not in session.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design and implement a proactive prospect identification program focused on current parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, and community supporters
  • Manages gift officer portfolios through a detailed moves management process and regular portfolio review meetings
  • Leverage wealth screening tools, philanthropic indicators, and community knowledge to assess giving capacity and inclination, translating data into actionable insights for advancement strategy
  • Prepare briefing documents and summary reports for Head of School, Chief Advancement Officer and other gift officers upon request
  • Effectively utilize Raiser’s Edge database and record keeping systems for information storage and retrieval
  • Assist Database Manager and Major Gift team in producing targeted prospect lists
  • Manage and safeguard confidential information, ensuring the highest standards of privacy and discretion at all times
  • Perform with a team approach, other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an advancement office, including two years of prospect research and/or advancement services experience
  • Working knowledge of third-party wealth screening databases, such as LexisNexis, WealthX, and DonorSearch
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is highly preferred
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace and aptitude for learning new technology

Anticipated compensation for this position is $90,000 - $105,000, annually based on experience.
