As a Structural Analysis Engineer in the Propulsion Engineering organization, you will be working on BCA Propulsion products and military derivatives ranging from the development phase, to sustaining program support, to post-production fleet support and aftermarket modifications. These products include Auxiliary Power Systems, main engine build-up, engine nacelles, thrust reverser systems, and fuel systems. Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs basic structural analysis (static strength and fatigue) to determine structural integrity, using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis supports new development designs, trade studies, responses to customer inquiries, production issues, failure investigations, and compliance showing to regulatory requirements
- Researches and prepares data to support definition of structural design requirements
- Performs structural analysis using established FEA tools to develop and validate structural performance, support test execution, and analyze results to ensure compliance with requirements and certification standards
- Documents and communicates certification and test results clearly for stakeholders, customers, and regulatory agencies
- Applies engineering principles to troubleshoot, optimize designs, and resolve structural issues
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams under general supervision
- Utilizes computer-aided design tools (e.g. CATIA, IVT) and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications to support analysis and design activities
- Maintains knowledge of Boeing's processes, customer requirements, and relevant Propulsion System regulations (e.g. Part 25, MILSPEC) to ensure deliverables meet quality and safety standards
- Upholds a proactive safety culture and deliver high-quality work with a sense of urgency
- Communicates complex technical concepts in a simple and effective manner
- Applies systems thinking to understand relationships within complex engineering systems and anticipate impacts of design or process changes
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with classical hand analysis
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis software (Patran/Nastran/Hypermesh)
- Experience with Boeing Analysis Tools (CSW or XSA)
