PPM Works is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead client-facing engagements and internal operational initiatives. In this fully remote role, you will own projects from initiation through closeout, driving outcomes across varied industries and team sizes. You will work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver on time, within scope, and on budget.

This role is designed for a practitioner who moves fluidly between waterfall structure and agile delivery, thriving in environments where no two projects look the same.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end delivery for client and internal engagements, from charter through closeout
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets using MS Project, Smartsheet, and OnePlan
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Apply hybrid methodology, blending waterfall structure with agile flexibility based on project context

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and building long-term trust
  • Facilitate regular status meetings, executive briefings, and steering committee updates
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve risks, issues, and dependencies proactively
  • Produce clear, concise project status reports and executive-level communications

Team Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional project teams of varying sizes in a fully remote environment
  • Partner with resource managers to staff projects and manage capacity across concurrent engagements
  • Mentor junior PMs and contribute to continuous improvement of ppmworks delivery standards

Financials & Governance

  • Maintain project data integrity and reporting within OnePlan and other PPM platforms
  • Track and manage project financials including budget forecasting, actuals, and variance reporting
  • Conduct lessons learned sessions and contribute findings to the ppmworks knowledge base

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of project management experience, including client-facing engagements
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects of varying scale and complexity across diverse industries
  • Proficiency with an enterprise PM tool for scheduling, resource management, and reporting
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid project delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to executive audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a remote, distributed environment
  • Experience managing project financials: budgets, forecasting, and variance analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • Experience with OnePlan or similar enterprise PPM platforms
  • Agile/Scrum certification (CSM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent)
  • Background in professional services, consulting, or technology delivery
  • Experience implementing or administering PPM tools on behalf of clients

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
