FORTNA is seeking a Project Manager to lead the successful execution of large-scale material handling and warehouse automation projects. This role is responsible for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with customer expectations.
The Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, and execution from project kickoff through final customer acceptance. This role works closely with internal engineering, procurement, controls, commissioning, and construction teams, while coordinating vendors, subcontractors, and customer stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Given customer requirements, this position requires a significant on-site presence during installation and startup activities, beginning at fiirst access and continuing through project completion.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the execution of complex material handling and warehouse automation projects with budgets up to $40 million.
Own overall project performance, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Serve as the primary customer-facing project leader, maintaining strong communication and alignment throughout project execution.
Coordinate cross-functional project teams, including Engineering, Controls, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations.
Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules, ensuring critical milestones are achieved.
Identify project risks, drive mitigation strategies, and resolve issues that could impact project objectives.
Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party partners to ensure successful project delivery.
Monitor project progress, analyze schedule performance, and implement corrective actions when required.
Lead installation planning and execution activities, resolving mechanical, operational, and site-related challenges.
Manage project financial performance, including forecasting, change management, cost control, and budget adherence.
Support talent development by mentoring project team members and contributing to the growth of the Operations organization.
Facilitate collaboration across departments to drive efficient project execution and continuous improvement.
Make timely operational and tactical decisions to maintain project momentum and achieve business objectives.
Utilize project management tools and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
Travel and work on-site as required, with approximately 50% of time spent at customer project locations.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Executive.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of project management experience in material handling, warehouse automation, industrial construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
Demonstrated experience managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and customer relationships.
Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Willingness to travel and maintain an on-site presence during installation and commissioning phases.
Experience leading distribution center, warehouse automation, or material handling system implementations.
Experience managing projects valued up to $40 million.
Knowledge of automated material handling systems, conveyors, sortation, robotics, ASRS, or related technologies.
Experience leading cross-functional teams in an EPC, systems integration, or industrial project environment.
PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
The base salary range for this role is $ 87,600 to $ 131,300. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
