POSITION SUMMARY: The Project Manager (PM) role is a progressive position. Responsibilities include managing the coordination and completion of Material Handling Systems (MHS) medium projects with increasing levels of schedule, scope, and budget. The PM will lead the project lifecycle and ensure deliverables are done on time. In conjunction with project deliverables, they will work directly with Fortna associates, clients, supplier-partners, and other service providers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Manages medium to large projects with $10M+ budgets
- Utilizes a broad understanding of project governance activities and tools in the delivery of projects and management of project risks
- Executes general processes associated with change controls, approvals, and information exchange involving both internal and external stakeholders and subcontractors
- Defines workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships of a project team
- Mitigates scope, schedule, and cost concerns both internally and with Client
- Supports development of departmental budgets and business plans for functional areas
- Manages and drives changes in a project actively resulting in Project Change Notice (PCN)
- Exhibits leadership skills by developing organizational goals and objectives
- Leverages progressive experience and knowledge to evaluate and compare material handling alternatives and technologies when supporting the design and implementation of solutions
- Applies a broad understanding of supply chain concepts, processes, and trends in the design and implementation of solutions
- Leads one or more external / internal projects or work streams of intermediate size, scope, budget, and complexity
- Demonstrates continuous consulting skills in support of problem resolutions, helping achieve client acceptance of agreed deliverables, provide critical support on approach and methods, and help with developing closed-loop communications for project stakeholders
- Exemplifies a strong work ethic by consistently practicing strong values such as integrity, dedication, and professionalism
- Proactively shares knowledge and feedback toward the development of others
- Effectively builds strong project teams and understands development needs in self and others
- Provides leadership as a Resource Manager as business needs require
- Build strong relationships by applying strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in the material handling industry or site project management related
Knowledge / Skills / Competencies:
- Demonstrates intermediate knowledge and ability to develop and manage project budgets and perform the level of financial analysis to evaluate a project
- Median level project management skills, demonstrated through requisite knowledge and experience
- Identifies resource requirements with supporting plans and justification
- Client management and project leadership skills demonstrated through broad consultative experience and knowledge
- Median level understanding of how to manage both directly and indirectly across multiple work-streams and projects.
- Intermediate business acumen competencies, demonstrating general understanding and skills application.
- Intermediate oral and written communication competencies
- Ability to solve difficult problems and create effective solutions quickly and efficiently
- Proficient time management, with proven experience delivering projects of increased scope and complexity on time and on budget
- Intermediate presentation development and delivery skills
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project)
- 50% time on project site
- Additional duties as assigned by the Program Executive

- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Ability to perform essential requirements of the position

Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification

The base salary range for this role is $87,600 to $131,300. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. The actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
