Parallel is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives from concept through completion. This role is responsible for translating customer needs into actionable plans, managing timelines and resources, and ensuring successful delivery across technical and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational and communication skills, along with experience managing projects in fast-paced, technical environments. A background in electromechanical systems or transportation is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in customer interactions and research customer applications to understand their operating environment.
- Meet with Engineers assigned to the project to understand current product architecture and to convey relevant customer context.
- Create actionable requirements for the engineering team based on knowledge of the customer application and other project-specific context.
- Work with engineers to create a work breakdown structure identifying tasks, time, and dependencies.
- Work with account managers to clearly communicate expectations, requests for information, and review materials with the customer.
- Participate in Product Specification reviews and other internal processes to make sure customer intention and internal requirements are being met during the development process.
- Track progress to the work breakdown structure, identifying delays, technical risks, and resource needs.
- When risks are identified, work with the appropriate teams to develop a mitigation plan by adjusting technical strategy, resources, and/or customer expectations.
- Present status updates on customer projects as part of regular account review meetings.
What Success Looks Like in your First Few Months:
- After 30 days: You're actively collaborating with external vendors to support project execution and have started building strong cross-functional relationships internally.
- After 60 days: You're confidently coordinating progress across multiple departments on a key build or feature development, driving alignment and momentum.
- After 90 days: You're taking ownership of internal specifications for features or builds—shaped by insights from customer needs, internal constraints, and broader industry context.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of project-based management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical workers in unfamiliar fields.
- Demonstrated ability to understand project-based design requirements.
- Experience managing critical path through multi-departmental projects with critical due dates.
- Strong proficiency with project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Jira, or Microsoft Project).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Degree in an interdisciplinary management field.
- Experience in fabrication, testing, and operation of electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with software design and test project patterns.
- Familiarity with the transportation industry.
- Experience estimating and tracking project budgets.

Salary ranges are listed below and reflect the expected range for new hires in this role, based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Final compensation may vary and will be determined during the interview process. The target hiring range for this position is listed below.
Target Salary Range:
$140,000—$180,000 USD
