At TD Thornton, we recognize that successful project execution relies on strong coordination—both behind the scenes and in the field. As a Project Coordinator, you will be a vital link between our project managers, field crews, clients, and internal teams. You’ll manage essential project workflows, support construction execution, and ensure we’re delivering with precision, professionalism, and care.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to grow your skills in both project administration and field coordination. You’ll contribute to activities across the project lifecycle—from pre-construction setup through final closeout—and help drive momentum on the ground while maintaining critical documentation and communications.

Your Day-to-Day Activities
Support Project Execution
Coordinate pre-construction requirements such as job pack reviews, subcontractor setup, USA ticket requests, and agency notifications.
Assist with field logistics including inventory, deliveries, and service coordination (e.g., traffic control, crane, paving).
Participate in job walks, verify site readiness, and track progress against schedule milestones.
Gather, organize, and submit closeout documentation including maps, plans, and as-builts.
Drive Project Administration
Maintain and update project documentation in tracking systems.
Assist with reporting tasks such as Work in Progress (WIP) updates and schedule submissions.
Coordinate with accounts payable to verify deliveries, purchase orders, and vendor receipts.
Support internal project meetings, prepare reports, and ensure records are complete and audit-ready.
Collaborate & Communicate
Serve as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding project coordination needs.
Communicate clearly and proactively with government agencies, subcontractors, utility reps, and internal teams.
Assist in managing and distributing project updates and documentation packages.

You’ll Be Prepared for This Job If You Have…
A High School Diploma or GED (required); Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred).
1–3 years of experience in construction coordination, field administration, or project support—ideally within utility infrastructure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a readiness to learn industry-standard platforms (e.g., HCSS Heavy Job, Procore, or equivalent).
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A collaborative mindset, a strong sense of ownership, and a willingness to support both field and office needs.
A valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
The flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends depending on project timelines.

You’ll Stand Out If You Have…
Field experience supporting utility or civil construction projects.
Exposure to public agency or municipality-based projects and their workflows.
Familiarity with estimating, scheduling, or project controls software.
A passion for continuous improvement and developing your career in project delivery.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
