Job Description
The Program Quality Engineer (PQE) is a critical role at BAE Endicott responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that meet customer requirements and exceed expectations. The PQE proactively integrates quality principles into all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept through design, development, manufacturing, and delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, risk management, and a collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Program Quality Engineer (PQE) who is excited to join a leading top tier global aerospace & defense enterprise as part of Controls & Avionics Solutions business area. This role is a full time, onsite position located in Endicott, NY. The PQE is responsible for ensuring seamless transition of projects through maturity phases (Proposal, Design, Production, Services, and Sustainment) and complies with BAE's established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance.
The qualified candidate will have strong leadership and communications skills and the ability to engage with functional representatives across all levels of the organization. A significant responsibility of this position will be to interface with external Customer Supplier Quality representatives and maintain effective relationships with these persons.
In this job, you will:
  • Collaborate with project and contract administration teams to review and assess BAE compliance to Customer requirements.
  • Assist program teams in negotiating and tailoring contract requirements to ensure compliance with company procedures and methods.
  • Champion and drive Continuous Improvement activities that support the ongoing effort to reduce scrap, rework and related Cost of Poor Quality
  • Facilitate successful completion of Root Cause, Corrective and Preventive Actions associated with product nonconformances.
  • Support project plan/documentation development and other activities to establish the project's execution processes
  • Support the development and execution of Fort Wayne's annual AS9100 audit plan, both internal and external audits.
  • Facilitate APQP activities and build quality into the product during early life development
  • Coordinate and control of non-conforming materials, including leading containment and disposition activities
  • Oversee the execution of Production Process Verification (PPV) / First Article Inspections (FAI)
  • Support the maintenance and upkeep of all requisite quality records, and revision of approved quality plans and procedures to meet changing requirements.
  • Support the coordination and execution of monthly Corrective Action Boards (CABs) and Management Reviews.
  • Create presentation materials and/or provide input to upper management for reporting to Customers and Government representatives
  • Coordinate and support customer audits to ensure process effectiveness and desired results. Facilitate corrective actions associated with any audit findings.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree and 4-6+ years of relevant work experience or 8-10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment
  • Able to read and comprehend drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills both within organization and the customer

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Tehcnical Field
  • Experience with AS9100, PPV/AS9102 FAI, and AS9145/PPAP
  • Experience with a Quality Improvement Programs (Zero Defect, Lean Six Sigma, Operational Excellence, etc.)
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), measurement systems analysis (MSA), and capability analysis (Cp/Cpk)
  • Proficiency in root cause and corrective action (RCCA) (8D methodology)
  • Experience with design verification and validation (V&V)
  • ASQ Certification: CQE/CQA/CQM
  • Green Belt/Black Belt Certified

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $107359 - $182510
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
