About ThinkTRUE

ThinkTRUE is a minority-owned marketing agency. We specialize in engaging

diverse, culture-driving and historically underrepresented communities. We are

focused on community-building through brand initiatives that center inclusive and

authentic marketing.

Whether we are empowering store athletes in new ways for Nike, appealing to high-

net-worth investors of color in the U.S. for UBS, or celebrating HBCU students on

campus with Chase; ThinkTRUE is a solutions-agnostic consultancy that always puts

the people and culture first.

We think “disruptive” should be “productive,” and we think brands can lead the

way. We keep it real. We Think TRUE.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

ThinkTRUE is seeking a 3-month freelance, LA-based Program Manager, to support the planning and execution of live events and experiential programs. This role reports directly to the Senior Production Director and is initially structured as a contract position, with the potential to convert to full-time based on performance and team fit.

As Program Manager, you bring deep experience in live event production, game presentation/operations, or large-scale entertainment environments. You are equal parts strategic and hands-on—able to build a show from the ground up, manage budgets and vendors, and step into a stage manager or show-caller role during execution. You thrive in fast-paced environments, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and are passionate about creating memorable live experiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

NORTH STAR:

Can independently build, manage, and execute live event programs, from concept through show execution, by developing production plans, run-of-show documentation, and budgets while maintaining creative integrity, operational efficiency, and high production quality.

  • Manage event budgets across multiple projects, identifying efficiencies while maintaining production quality
  • Develop and manage all production materials including, run-of-show documents, scripts, cue sheets, production schedules, staffing plans, and supply lists
  • Oversee event execution on-site, serving in a stage manager and/or show-caller capacity while maintaining show flow & timing
  • Lead and manage production staff, crew, and on-site teams, including briefings, call times, and real-time troubleshooting
  • Book, manage, and coordinate talent and vendors (A/V, DJ, Emcees/Hosts, Speakers, etc.), including scheduling, briefings, technical requirements, contracts, and payments
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative and Account teams to integrate ideas while ensuring feasibility, budget alignment, and executional excellence
  • Support additional events as needed, ranging from staffing and briefing assistance to full in-person execution
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams and external partners throughout all phases of production
  • Ensure all production documentation and post-event wrap materials are completed accurately and on time

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Event Management, Sports Management, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in live event production, game presentation, entertainment management, or large-scale experiential events (sports experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience building run-of-show documents and production scripts, not solely executing pre-written shows
  • Proven ability to manage talent and production crews in high-pressure, live-event environments

TECHNICAL & OPERATIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of live event production flow, timing, and creative storytelling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and production tools (e.g., Shoflo – 1+ year experience required; Asana)
  • Working knowledge of A/V systems, lighting, and special effects coordination
  • Budget management experience required; familiarity with tools such as Procim is a plus
  • Photoshop experience a plus

OTHER QUALITIES AND SKILLS

  • Highly organized with exceptional communication and multitasking abilities
  • Coachable mindset with openness to feedback and growth
  • Collaborative and relationship-driven, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with vendors
  • Comfortable working non-traditional hours, including early mornings (as early as 3am), nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods during event days
  • Passionate about creating memorable, high-quality live experiences
  • Established relationships within the A/V and venues
  • Experience working with A-list talent and well-known influencers

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
