About xCures

Lots of data, little understanding. Medical records for a single patient live scattered across dozens of providers, and critical data is buried in unstructured faxes, PDFs, and notes that no one has time to read. Access to health data is no longer the problem. Getting a clear, structured, trusted piece of information out of that mess is. That’s the problem xCures® exists to solve.
The xCures Clinical Clarity Engine turns fragmented records into validated, source-linked answers built for the next decision. Every extracted data point traces back to the exact document and page it came from. Automatically get the patient history you need, so you can make decisions based on more accurate information without digging through documents.

Our mission: “To find and organize all healthcare data, empowering insights that improve care for everyone.”

We work with anyone that needs information from medical data for their next decision: diagnostic labs, providers, telehealth providers, health systems, payers, consumer health platforms, and more. Wherever a decision is stuck behind 200 scattered documents no one has time to read, that’s our problem to solve. We’re a remote-first, Series B, venture-backed team that holds itself to the same standard as our product: trustworthy, precise, and purposeful. If you like solving problems that are genuinely hard and useful, you’ll feel at home here.

Here’s Where You’ll Make An Impact:

At xCures, clinical data curation is defined cross-functionally between product and technical teams. This role owns the layer beside it: the operational and transactional data generated when internal and external customers interact with our platform. You’ll turn that activity into governed, well-defined, trusted information the business runs on.

Reporting to the Strategic Program Manager, you'll own the data glossary and governance layer end to end as a senior individual contributor. If you want a seat where you set the standards rather than inherit them, and where your work is the reason every downstream team can trust its numbers, this is it.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the enterprise data glossary and business definitions, keeping them aligned with the curation scope set by the core product team
  • Establish and maintain data governance policies, quality controls, and business-rule validation rules, including so downstream data stays trustworthy and consistent across every consumer
  • Determine which datasets are fit for use and enforce one source of truth, so every team analyzes from the same core tables
  • Map and document business data lineage from the product data layer to each stakeholder function, showing what each field means downstream and where it originates
  • Serve as the analytics partner across the business, translating their data needs into governed, reusable definitions and reporting
  • Train and support business users on accessing, interpreting, and using approved datasets and dashboards (e.g., revenue and financial data mappings), serving as the bridge between technical data teams and business stakeholders
  • Investigate data anomalies and historical gaps, own the escalation path for data quality issues to the appropriate technical owner, and build structural controls that prevent them from recurring
  • Support external-facing data consumers with governed, well-documented definitions they can trust
  • Partner with the product team and the Senior Director, Informatics on changes to the underlying data model, assessing downstream impact on business definitions and reporting before rollout

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years, or equivalent depth owning a data governance or BI function
  • Proven track record building and maintaining data glossaries, business definitions, and metadata documentation
  • Strong SQL and hands-on experience with modern BI and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across functions (such as finance, sales, revenue operations, customer success, data science, medical affairs) and translate their needs into governed, reusable data
  • Able to make complex data understandable to non-technical stakeholders, in writing and verbally
  • Comfort operating independently, owning a function end to end, and driving adoption across teams without direct reports
Bonus Points:
  • Experience in healthcare data or another regulated data environment
  • Familiarity with data modeling and transformation tooling (e.g. dbt, Dataform, or similar)
  • Exposure to external-facing or customer-delivered data products
Location

xCures operates in a distributed, remote-first environment, with occasional travel to company offsites or key meetings throughout the year. Candidates may be located anywhere in the United States. The successful candidate must already have authorization to work in the United States. At this time, xCures does not offer sponsorship. All candidate information will be held in confidence and in accordance with EEOC guidelines.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
