The Program Engineering Manager's primary responsibility is to control the design configuration, coordinate engineering support, lead the team in resolving issues, and ensure the implementation of approved engineering changes.
The position is located in Sterling Heights, MI. We work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, and our hybrid approach provides plenty of on-site collaboration and support for new staff onboarding as well as the flexibility for working remotely some days.

The Program Engineering Manager:
- Leads and manages the engineering team
- Collaborates and advises on balanced design solutions
- Responsible for overseeing and directing all engineering work
- Tailors the engineering processes to be used in execution of the project
- Accountable for adherence to the engineering budget
- Financial performance in conjunction with engineering Cost Account Managers (CAMs) to include baseline adjustments as appropriate
- Participates in Project Performance Reviews (PPRs) to identify issues and problems, assess corrective action plans, and track actions to closure
- Ensuring maintenance of the Technical Data Package (TDP), master model and association between 3D CAD models and 2D drawings
- Responsible for execution of engineering milestone reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
- Engineering supervision of Vendor Information Requests (VIRs) from Supply Chain, Problem Reports (PRs), tracking metrics, and ensuring the issues are being resolved
- Ensures proactive obsolescence management
- Attends meetings with engineering/program management for status reporting
- Submittal of Contract Data Requirements (CDRLs) with engineering impact
- Generation and reporting of Dashboard metrics on activities
- Basis of Estimate (BOE) development for redesign and producibility improvements with engineering impact
- Responsible for developing accurate cost and schedule estimates for all engineering tasks
- Primary interface with the project customer technical representatives
- Provides technical guidance and supervision (not direct) for responsible engineers and work package managers
- Participates as a member of the Risk Review Board (RRB)/Joint Risk Review Board (JRRB)
- Provides accurate and timely staffing forecasts in engineering staffing database
- Collaborates with functional engineering to obtain concurrence with staffing plans, schedule commitments, and cost commitments
- Assures the assigned staff has the requisite skills and experience to execute the scope of work
- Mentorship and development of engineering personnel assigned to support the efforts
- Supports ISO, CMMI, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), quality and corporate audits
- Continuously strives to maintain and enhance the technical reputation of BAE Systems with customers and industry
- Maintains familiarity with industry practices, trends, and applications to enhance the organization's technical capabilities
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or closely related field and 6 years related work experience
- Experience with Department of War programs, preferably US Army combat vehicle production and associated processes
- Demonstrated aptitude for proactive problem solving
- Strong computer skills with MS Office suite to support metrics, reports and documents
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; attention to detail, coupled with good time management and organizational skills
- Sound interpersonal skills for interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCCA)
- Experience presenting data, analysis and recommendations to Senior Leadership Team
- Sustainment and international experience
