This is a grant-funded position until 12/31/25. The Program Coordinator is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CORE’s climate resilience and disaster preparedness programming. The Program Coordinator will work with CORE management to implement grant objectives. The Program Coordinator will monitor program requirements, adhere to budget, supervise CERC (CA Emergency Response Corp/Americorp) Fellows and deliver program reports to CORE management, funders, and other entities.

 


Responsibilities:

  • Manage grant programs and collaborate with various organizational departments and community-based partners  
  • Adhere to program fiscal budgets in conjunction with leadership and ensure financial compliance  
  • Maintain compliance with grant guidelines, local, state, and federal laws, and organizational policies  
  • Identify growth opportunities and create strategic partnerships to achieve program objectives  
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal staff and external agencies  
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate data for program performance assessment  
  • Assist in identification and research of grant opportunities to expand departmental portfolio  
  • Represent the organization at selected community events  
  • Be prepared to deploy as needed to assist with emergency operations across California, contributing to on-the-ground efforts in disaster response and recovery 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Scope and Travel:

  • Reports to CA Climate Program Manager
  • Supports the oversight of AmeriCorps Fellows
  • Will need to drive locally and throughout CORE’s service areas in Alameda, Santa Clara and Contra Costa Counties.
  • May need to travel to support U.S. disaster response per the discretion of California Program’s senior leadership
  • Will travel across Bay Area and Northern California to meet with sub-grantees, current and potential partners, and funders

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration, or a related field (graduate level studies or degree preferred)
  • Knowledge of disaster and climate hazard risks specific to the state of California
  • Relevant certifications such as CPR, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), (CEM) Certified Emergency Manager or (PMP) Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years in the field of environmental sciences, climate action/resilience, sustainability or community outreach and climate engagement/programs
  • Minimum 1 year participating in programs with direct supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in a second “threshold” language such as Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Tagalog to communicate effectively with diverse communities across California is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience within the nonprofit or public sector.
  • Familiarity with grant management and compliance with local, state, and federal funding regulations.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience in community outreach and education
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of County/City/Public agencies and or CA Community Based Organizations and local government, including Emergency Management Departments, Public Works, Conservation and Parkland Districts

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong project management, leadership, speaking, and organizational skills
  • Enhanced skills in MS Excel
  • Proficient in other MS Office suite programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge in Esri GiS Suite a plus
  • Work proactively
  • Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment
  • Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Bilingual in English and another language is a plus
  • Non-profit Organizations
