The Southern California Research Center for ALPD & Cirrhosis of USC’s Keck School of Medicine is a premier research center dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding of alcohol-associated liver and pancreatic diseases. Continually funded by the NIH since its inception in 1999, the center has been at the forefront of groundbreaking research, innovative discoveries, and functions as a collaborative hub for scientists from early career stage to senior level investigators.
Position Summary:
The incumbent will be required to implement pre- and post-award procedures for NIH and other federal grants including, but not limited to grant preparation and on-line submission, just-in-time compliances including biosafety, animal and human study protocol approval/s; setting up accounts; and preparation and submission of annual progress reports; Implement the center’s core management including, but not limited to facilitating the center investigators’ animal protocol submission and approval, animal transfer, tissue sharing program, administrative support for core service request and implementation, and data management.
The incumbent supports the center director’s responsibilities including, but not limited to required communication with the center components and members, KSOM, departments, VA, and NIH, implement personnel management including, but not limited to new hiring and layoff, payroll, and leaves, support center-initiated programmatic activities such as annual and international symposia, progress report meeting, and community seminars.
The successful candidate will administer the Southern California Research Center for ALPD and Cirrhosis center program, plans and develops center’s objectives and/or content, researches and identifies trends and needs and establishes center’s goals accordingly, assesses quality of center’s operations, modifies existing center’s services or creates new program offerings to maintain or enhance center’s standing with other relevant departments on or off campus as necessary.
The Program Administrator also serves as a key resource for center’s information. Will be required to effectively solve problems and answer questions referred by center’s staff, university administrators, or other contingencies. Interfaces with faculty, staff, students, researchers, and external contacts for committee work or information exchange regarding center’s services or content.
The Keck School of Medicine Department of Pathology is one of the largest pathology departments in the United States. The Department aims to shape the future of pathology as it will be practiced in community hospitals, academic medical centers and clinical laboratories throughout the country.

Salary Range:
The annual base salary range for this position is $82,992.00-$120,000.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.“

Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related professional experience in area of program specialization.
Preferred Education: Masters Degree
Preferred Experience: 5+ years
