Professional Sales Skillbridge Intern

Why We Have This Role

As a Professional Sales Skillbridge Intern on the Account Executive track, you will translate your military leadership, adaptability, and operational discipline into full-lifecycle SaaS sales expertise. Working alongside Account Executives, Sales Mentors, and Sales Leadership, you will gain hands-on experience across the entire sales process—from strategic account hunting and discovery to solution mapping, proposal development, and contract negotiation. Our goal is simple: prepare you for a seamless transition into a high-growth, full-time Account Executive career at Qualtrics.

How You’ll Find Success

  • Relentless Coachability & Curiosity: Actively seek real-time feedback after every pitch, call, and discovery meeting. Rapidly absorb the MEDDIC sales methodology and apply client feedback immediately.
  • Operational Discipline & Consistency: Translate your military rigor into your sales stack—maintaining high daily outbound activity, impeccable CRM hygiene in Salesforce, and diligent account prep.
  • High Ownership & Initiative: Take full accountability for your territory mapping, client research, and meeting prep. Proactively drive opportunities forward rather than waiting for direction.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Leverage your team—partnering effectively with AE Partners, Solution Engineers, and Professional Services to build tailored, high-impact enterprise proposals.

How You’ll Grow

  • Enterprise SaaS Mastery: Build deep commercial expertise in Experience Management (XM) software, SaaS unit economics, and full-funnel deal mechanics.
  • Consultative & Executive Selling Skills: Develop advanced proficiency in the MEDDIC framework, learning how to uncover client pain, qualify enterprise budget, and communicate value to C-suite decision-makers across IT, HR, CX, and Marketing.
  • Full-Lifecycle Deal Management: Gain end-to-end exposure across the entire sales cycle—moving from strategic outbound hunting and initial discovery to solution scoping, business case generation, and contract negotiation.
  • Direct Path to a Full-Time AE Career: Position yourself for a seamless transition from military service into a high-growth, full-time Account Executive role at Qualtrics upon graduation from the program.

Things You’ll Do

Throughout your program, you will follow a structured, phased onboarding path:
  • Phase 1: Foundation & Mastery
    • Tech Stack & Methodology Enablement: Gain proficiency in enterprise CRM platforms (Salesforce.com), sales enablement tools, and foundational methodologies like MEDDIC.
    • Persona & Solution Mastery: Learn key decision-maker personas across executive leadership and build strong business acumen to align client needs with Experience Management solutions.
  • Phase 2: Active Execution & Co-Selling
    • Outbound Hunting & Discovery: Conduct targeted outbound outreach to build new opportunities and co-lead initial discovery conversations.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Account Executives, Professional Services, and Subject Matter Experts to scope tailored solutions that solve complex client challenges.
    • Client Engagement & Pitching: Shadow and actively participate in live client meetings, solution demonstrations, and proposal presentations.
    • Sales Project #1: Execute a strategic territory and account mapping project to identify high-value opportunities.
  • Phase 3: High Impact & Capstone
    • Full-Cycle Opportunity Management: Assist in driving deals through the sales funnel—from validation and business case development to contract negotiation tactics.
    • Sales Project #2: Complete a deal-execution or process-improvement project to optimize team playbooks or competitive positioning strategies.
    • Leadership Scorecard: Present your 90-day accomplishments, pipeline engagement, and capstone project outcomes to Professional Sales Leadership.

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • Skillbridge Eligibility: Currently an Active Duty U.S. Military Service Member with command approval to participate in a DoD Skillbridge internship within 180 days of discharge/retirement.
  • Core Qualities: Self-starter mindset, grit, resilience, competitive drive, coachability, curiosity, and strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Business Acumen & Problem-Solving: Proven ability to navigate complex challenges, think strategically, understand organizational dynamics, and build trust across diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for Consultative Selling: A strong desire to launch a long-term commercial closing career in the software technology industry. (Prior sales or closing experience is welcomed, but not required).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
