POSITION TITLE: CONVERTING SUPERVISOR

LOCATION: Salinas, California

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

Salary Range $22.00 -$28.53



SUMMARY

The Site Supervisor shall be responsible for three separate locations within the Santa Maria region which includes the daily management and execution within all segments of safety, quality control, operations, production, facilities, transportation, compliance, packaging, sales and administration.

The Site Supervisor will have an integral understanding of every operation’s costs, accounting, and ultimate impact to financials of the company. As well as manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, agreements, and execution in all segments.  The Site Supervisor will have the right combination of experience, education, talent, and passion for their work as a key contributor to Pratt Agriculture’s forward success.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Experienced in Safety, Quality and Compliance Management 
  • Superior people management skills.
  • Ensures a clean and safe working environment for all.  
  • Must display emotional control in time sensitive situations and be able to multi-task.
  • Must drive team success, be, approachable, and have a coachable demeanor.
  • Able to lead and communicate at a high level to Customer Support Staff, Production employees and Customers
  • Technologically and functionally advanced skills, MS Office Suite, Software systems, Apps, Portals, writing SOP’s and Navigation
  • General office duties, scanning/faxing, filing, answering phones.
  • Assists safety, environmental, incident investigation and training activities as well as on boarding new hires in cooperation with the Safety Manager, Human Resources Department.
  • Monitor inventory and warehouse items. Provide input to management as to availability of stock, slow moving, and fast moving items, etc.
  • Keep Site Manager informed regarding problems or situations that may affect the overall production operation of the managed locations and overall business.
  • Assist drive investigation of customer improvement opportunities (CIO’s) to Provide timely follow-up and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Monitor departmental production and support overtime and monitor staffing requirements consistent with demand.
  • Works collaboratively with scheduling, warehousing, engineering, and quality to support and improve productivity and quality reliability through proactive production goals and standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities effectively and flexibly to meet company needs.
  • Critical Thinking, Forensic Troubleshooting, Pattern recognition, Trend Identification, and Problem Solving skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret budget statements.
  • Leads all manufacturing operations, shipping/receiving and production employees.
  • Works closely with Site Management, production team(s), maintenance and fellow site supervisors at all locations as a team collectively.
  • Coordinates production in accordance with policies, principles, procedures and established goals. While effectively managing and monitoring production startups, shutdowns and changeovers.
  • Responsible for maintaining good inventory accuracy for ordering and processes while following company policies and procedures as well as inventory accuracy and maintaining predetermined max/min levels. Including performing accurate daily inventory counts.
  • Responsible to meet production goals, make necessary adjustments during production shift to maximize production while safely limiting downtime and producing quality material.
  • Attend and participate in daily production meetings, working with management, office staff, kiosk, etc. to effectively produce product, meet production/shipping goals
  • Remains in constant communication with site manager and site mechanic(s).
  • Develops and implements plans for efficient use of materials, machines, Pratt employees and temporary associates.
  • Responsible for producing and shipping high quality products while monitoring quality control to minimize waste, increase efficiency and minimize customer complaints.
  • Works closely with management and production team to monitor and maintain production costs, product quality, and modifies production to maintain and enhance profitable.
  • Trains all production employees to comply with operational standards, company policies, procedures, safety and quality.
  • Supports Site Manager with preparation of production, human resources and labor/costs records.
  • Responsible for meeting site budget goals per cost category.
  • Maintains positive working relationship with other departments (Salinas Mfg Plant, other satellite facilities, Shipping, Sales, Accounting, Customer Service, Safety, Human Resources, maintenance, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping an accurate daily attendance report, including managing overtime, lunches and breaks accordingly.
  • Assist and support the forklift operators, maintenance, kiosk and other job duties as needed.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Have the ability to travel between local region sites as well as other satellite facilities and Salinas manufacturing plant.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Manages subordinate employees and temporary associates
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
