WHY WE NEED YOU

The Vice President of Product Development Engineering (PDE) - Hardware develops and directs the design and development of new hardware products and the improvements of existing products. The Vice President of Product Development Engineering (PDE) - Hardware must work with members of the senior management team to further department and company goals.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Works with other teams within the company — such as sales, marketing, programs, engineering, and manufacturing — to bring new products from the research and development side to market or implementation within the organization
• Departments include Systems Engineering, Integration & Analysis (Aerodynamics, Thermodynamics, Structural & Fatigue Analyses, Loads & Dynamics, Flight Simulation) as well as Hardware Engineering (Airframe Structure, Mechanical Systems, Power Train, Batteries, Power Electronics),
• Provide leadership and develop objectives for the PDE Engineering department
• Own, develop and advance the People, Processes, Tools and Capabilities to achieve company objectives
• Ensure HW Engineering organization is successful and resolve any issues that may get in the way of success
• Create an environment that fosters innovation in developing new products, creating improvements on existing products or services, or even developing new processes and technology for the organization to improve efficiency
• Independent design authority for all design choices that where influence is contained within hardware
• Manage and plan Hardware Leads individual, group, and department work
• Develop and implement Engineering strategic resource plans 
• Technical leader for technology road maps and chief engineering processes for executing roadmap development

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

• 10+ years of engineering management or leadership experience leading teams >50
• BS in STEM field
• Technical management experience in a fast-paced development organization
• Experience as a Development Chief Engineer
• Experience with Product Development & product certification
• Experience in startup or sustainable growth of an organization from 250 to 1000
• You understand what drives employee engagement and how to get your teams to perform what they think is impossible.
• Innovation & future vision are fundamental building blocks of your career history.
• You get things done. You drive alignment, clarity, focus and accountability, and marshal people and resources to accomplish the goal on time and on budget.
• You're a "hands-on" leader

NICE TO HAVE

• MS in STEM (ME, EE, etc.) or MBA
• Experience in development and execution of technology road maps
• Experience in Systems Architecture and Systems Engineering
• Experience bringing new products to market
• Experience in Software development projects
• Experience in developing People, Processes and Tools for Engineering organizations
