Sr. Technical Product Manager (Remote)
We are driven by the belief that Artificial Intelligence is mankind’s greatest invention. It is the key to building a safer, more vibrant, transparent, and empowered society. We are determined to be an active contributor to shaping our future for the better. We care about the ethical implications of AI and the prosperity and well-being of all individuals, as well as the growth and continued successes of our employees, customers, and partners.
Veritone’s mission today is more important than ever. We’re here to democratize AI and enable every organization and every person with the power of AI. What started in 2014 with the idea of providing unified access to hundreds of cognitive engines through one common software infrastructure, evolved to the world’s first AI operating system, aiWARE, which orchestrates a diverse ecosystem of cognitive engines to power intelligent automation for both commercial and government organizations. As we progress, we will continue to move humans from “in” to “on” to “out of the loop” to help them accelerate workflows, save time and costs, and uncover new insights and opportunities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Ownership - Take product ownership of the technical products of Veritone’s aiWARE platform, including primary AI/ML models and processing (we call them engines), databases, APIs, and underlying kernel components.
- Live in Your Customer’s Shoes - Work closely with your developer, DevOps, and administrator customers, internal to Veritone and external to customers and partners, to ensure you understand the problems they are trying to solve, how they are using the aiWARE, and what they expect from a features perspective
- Evangelize the vision – work with internal Product Champion groups to listen to their feedback, ask for help testing, review documentation, and make sure they become your voice to the rest of Veritone and to customers. Work with the head of aiWARE Product to develop product roadmaps, communicate, and release products and to your customers.
- Build Labs - We need to tell our customers how aiWARE performs under every scenario, not the other way around. Be creative in testing your products in Lab environments to simulate how your customers are using your products and make sure it doesn’t break. When it does, prioritize the fixes and communication to our customers.
- Ship – define clear features and release notes, make decisions along the way, and ship product. Continuously. Work collaboratively with the Engineering Managers to ensure requirements are clearly defined and prioritized to meet the goals of our customers.
- Listen and iterate - talk to customers - internal and external Engineering, DevOps, and Systems Admin groups - to solicit feedback. Be strong enough not to say yes to everyone, however, and allocate resources effectively to meet the success criteria of the product.
- Emphasize the user experience – you were once a developer. How would you want to learn and use aiWARE and build those products and artifacts needed to make this a great experience. Build solutions design templates, sample code, training videos, and documentation that will really be used, not just checking the box writing stale documents.
- Measure success - identify necessary metrics to measure the effectiveness of your products. Ensure these can easily be captured on dashboards, monitored, and alerted so that a development team trusts a NOC can manage aiWARE efficiently and effectively.
- No surprises - Expectations set by the team are met and when things change (and they do), changes are clearly communicated.
- 5+ years experience as a software engineer.
- 3+ years experience as a technical product manager, solutions architect, or sales engineer in a SaaS business.
- A talent for engaging with engineering. We don't expect you to code any longer and you need to have a balance to be clear in what is needed and allow the engineers to build.
- Strong experience working on complex projects with front-end and back-end components.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. You'll own your projects that cross multiple development teams.
- Remarkable leadership and communication skills. You should be comfortable representing your team and championing your projects across the organization and in front of senior leadership, partners, and customers.
