As a Product Manager at Utility, you are vital to our client's success. You understand their goals, their pain points, and how Utility can transform their business by crafting and delivering innovative technology. You are passionate, curious, organized, and eager to deliver.
You will be working collaboratively with a talented and diverse team of product strategists, UX/UI designers, and software engineers. This is a position that has significant impact on our projects' end users, our team's efficiency, and most importantly, our client's bottom line. We are here to break the mold. We design and build industry-leading digital products, from mobile apps and web properties, to machine learning and AI, as we position our clients as innovators in their industries. And that starts with you.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Running agile product design & development and the overall creation and releasing of nascent end-to-end digital products
  • Owning communication and collaboration for various project areas: design members, engineering teams, technical project managers, marketing partners, and client-side executives.
  • Create, guide, and communicate project plans and business goals to ensure alignment and drive convergent implementation.
  • Manage the project scopes and sustainable work flow for your team while keeping focus on the key client objectives
  • Engage directly with clients and manage account details, project scopes, and relationship

What You Bring to the Table

  • 2+ years of experience, preferably within a product or agency environment, implementing and launching user-centric software application solutions.
  • End-to-end software development lifecycle experience across multiple digital platforms (mobile applications a plus).
  • A firm grip on agile project management methodologies, and flexible implementation methods to hit milestones and deadlines.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients, motivating and mentoring your teams along the way.
  • Strong PM organizational skills. You'll be generating and maintaining product roadmaps and backlogs that rely on detailed acceptance criteria to support the development lifecycle.
  • You're an inspirational team player. Your skills are important, but we are a company of kind, passionate, talented people who want to help each other succeed.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
