Job Summary:
The Product Development Sourcing Associate will be a strategic member of the Product team that will provide supplier facing insights and share pertinent development intricacies cross-functionally with key stakeholders. You’ll take the lead on creating proprietary products, refining tech packs, performing textile testing and bringing new products to market.
What You’ll Do:
- Product Development
- This role is best suited for individuals who are passionate about textile trends and enjoy the tangible aspects of product development
- You will incorporate design thinking to creatively ideate on solutions to solve for common customer pain points
- Provide fiber/yarn quality improvements on initial development swatches to get to a scalable, launchable state
- Take ownership of tech pack creation, management, and continuous improvements
- Strive for customer satisfaction by testing textile performance attributes based on a mix of industry-standards (crocking, abrasion, tensile strength) and ad-hoc tests (wash/dry simulations)
- Ensure products adhere to regulatory and global safety requirements
- Identify potential risks and use textile construction and chemistry to resolve issues
- Contribute to cross-functional teams to bring net new and transformative home goods to customers
- Supplier Engagement
- Identify, vet and build fruitful relationships with potential new suppliers, while developing expertise with our existing supplier base
- Iterate with suppliers and encourage actionable solutions based on feedback from internal team members
- Drive suppliers to deliver prototypes on schedule to achieve launch goals
What You’ll Need to Have:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science or equivalent program
- 3+ years of experience in product, textile or material development, technical design or another relevant function; other levels of experience will be considered depending on background. Ability to assess aesthetics, quality of textiles and finished goods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to work evenings as required to interface with non-USA time zones
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Ability to own large projects and important relationships in fast-paced, unstructured environment
Preferred:
- Experience in textile performance testing
- Experience building relationships with overseas suppliers
- Experience with CPG/Retail, especially with home products, textiles, carpeting, or apparel
- Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
