We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead a team of designers to craft compelling and intuitive user-centric experiences that are accountable to measurable outcomes. You are willing to get your hands dirty and complete all tasks big and small when needed to support your team, making sure a feature is delivered. You will be empowered to make a lasting impact on the experience and design direction of The Black Tux.

You are a visionary with a driving need to understand your customers. You are relentless in finding solutions that meet their needs, sweating the details and making sure they tie back to the big picture. You have a knack for creating intuitive, scalable and functional web product experiences and you represent the user every step of the way, keeping them at the heart of what you’re building. You thrive in entrepreneurial and nimble environments. You obsess over information architecture & hierarchy, user flows, UI patterns, and best practices.

What You'll Do

• Mentor and grow our existing product design team
• Champion design throughout the product organization and company at-large
• Create and foster a healthy design culture fueled by collaboration and feedback
• Guide the team to develop best practices for ensuring a high bar of quality
• Know technology and emergent design patterns and coach to designing for changing consumer behaviors and preferences
• Drive a user-centered design practice to design innovative, on-brand solutions that meet measurable customer needs, business requirements and goals.
• Set clear goals, manage project loads and allocate designers accordingly
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, user research and marketing to ensure a smooth product development process.
• Recruit new designers and actively participate in the hiring process.
• Roll up your sleeves and contribute as a designer when necessary.

Who You Are

• Talented and experienced product designer and manager with track record of mentoring and coaching up and coming designers.
• Obsess about the user, what motivates them, and how our product can surpass their expectations.
• A variety and depth of experience designing complex user journeys.
• Successfully leveraged user research, usability testing and data insights to build strategy and improve experiences.
• Ability to collaborate with and coach designers to achieve their best results.
• Strong conceptual thinking and compositional sense.
• Expert communicator. You model giving and receiving feedback.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
