About Bodewell

Bodewell is on a mission to fundamentally change the way people talk about and treat the chronic inflammatory skin conditions of eczema, psoriasis, and sensitive skin. Our products leverage powerful and patented plant-based technology acquired and honed by P&G Ventures, the venture arm of CPG powerhouse Procter & Gamble. The culmination of more than six years of R&D and consumer study, our technology sets a new standard for clinical testing in the world of plant-based medicated skincare; we’re bridging the worlds of pharmacologic and naturopathic medicine in a rigorously evidence-based manner. With strong and accelerating business performance after the May-2020 launch of the Bodewell brand, we are now building a core team to begin scaling the business to fulfill our mission of changing the lives of millions of people.

The Challenge Ahead

As the Digital Product Manager, you will be among Bodewell’s first set of key hires as we form our core initial team. This is a special opportunity to join a uniquely positioned and well-backed venture at a very early stage.

You will be responsible for creating a data-driven, rapidly-iterative, and analytical digital product management function to build upon our early market success. With a primary focus on our e-commerce website, you will own the product roadmap, design and execution of experiments, and the management of core e-commerce KPIs. You will also serve as the bridge between product, creative, marketing, and engineering to ensure we stay aligned and efficient in identifying and achieving our collective goals.

As part of your role, you will:

  • Set and execute the product management strategy necessary to effectuate our collective vision for the Bodewell e-commerce experience.
  • Design and execute well-constructed experiments to hone our e-commerce offering and continually improve core KPIs.
  • Actively manage our digital product backlog; plan and manage our product sprints in alignment with agile development methodology.
  • Manage external resources and agencies to extract maximum efficiency and quality; source, evaluate, and onboard future resources as needed.
  • Lead the strategic sourcing, evaluation, and implementation of technology and software solutions as the business grows.
  • Partner with the founders to establish and embody our company values, mission, and culture. You’ll be building a company with us from the ground up and you will be a key part of making Bodewell a beloved and rewarding place for our future employees to work.

The Perfect Fit

We want someone who shares our vision for the future and can help us get there:

  • You are an entrepreneur at heart, with a strong desire to make your mark on the trajectory of a new venture and an understanding that roles at early stage startups are often very challenging, yet ultimately uniquely rewarding, professional opportunities.
  • You are intently focused on how we follow through on our brand promise and you have exceptionally high personal and team standards.
  • You are seriously passionate about building digital products; this is your dream job and you could talk to us for hours about your ideas in this space.
  • You are confident in your abilities but humble in your approach, understanding that there is always more to learn.
  • You thrive in lean, matrixed, and fast-paced environments thanks to your outstanding communication skills, resourcefulness, and natural gravitation towards ownership.
  • The proposition of solving challenging problems is invigorating to you, not overwhelming.
  • You are data-driven, commercially minded, and goal-oriented; you measure success both quantitatively and qualitatively, and you understand the importance of both.
  • You’re naturally curious, positive, and optimistic with a “let’s do this” attitude.

Experience & Skills

We’re looking for someone who is eager to leverage their experience, take the next step in their career, and grow with the company. Our ideal candidate has the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; quantitative or business focus is preferred. Graduate degree is valued, but not required.
  • 6+ years of experience in digital product management, ideally for digitally native DTC businesses selling a physical product. Skincare brand experience is valued, but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing (directly and indirectly) both internal and external resources and agencies across product management, creative, and engineering; this includes oversight of technology, systems, and analytics used for effectively managing these teams.
  • Strong quantitative, commercial, and analytical mindset; can provide numerous examples in which data and experimentation have led to positive business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing, evaluating, and implementing software/extensions for e-commerce websites. Experience with Shopify is valued, but not required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver training and feedback at all levels and to create effective documentation and reference resources.
  • Strong organization system and project management skills are a must. Experience with project management tools like Asana, Trello, Notion, etc. is valued.
  • Early stage (pre-Series A) startup venture experience is valued, but not required.

Benefits

We are on a mission to revolutionize how people take care of their skin, so it’s important to us that we also take care of our team. We offer the following benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • High-quality Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage through Aetna (85% employer-paid)
  • Short-Term Disability, FSA/DCFSA/HSA, One Medical, Health Advocate, Teladoc (100% employer-paid)
