Overview:

The Product Owner is a key role within a software development team responsible for helping to drive the development and success of a product or a set of products. As a Product Owner, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders, customers, and the development team to define and prioritize product features, create, and maintain the product backlog, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software products. You will serve as the development team’s primary point of contact for day-to-day product-related matters and play a crucial role in ensuring the product meets the needs of the users and aligns with the business objectives.

Location: Los Angeles

Work Arrangement: This is an onsite role requiring four days per week in the office, with one flexible remote day each week based on team needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Backlog Ownership

  • Translate the product roadmap into epics, features, and user stories.

  • Define, refine, and prioritize product requirements aligned with business and user needs.

  • Maintain a clear, organized, and continuously updated product backlog.

  • Make informed decisions about scope, trade-offs, and priorities throughout development cycles.

  • Partner closely with engineering in an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Serve as the development team’s day-to-day point of contact for all product-related questions.

User Insight, Feedback, & Iteration

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and customers to gather feedback and validate concepts.

  • Conduct or support user testing to inform product decisions.

  • Analyze user feedback and identify opportunities for enhancements or new features.

  • Incorporate insights into iterative product improvements and future roadmap planning.

Prototyping, BI & Workflow Improvements

  • Monitor product performance and usage trends.

  • Use AI tools like Figma Make or Replit to develop early stage prototypes

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate or improve the working process

  • Generate dashboards to measure performance and usage using no/low-code tools (we use Superblocks)

  • Project Management: Basic organizational skills to manage timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.

  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to present ideas, create documentation, and engage stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in a software development environment.

  • Familiarity of Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum) and product management principles.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple competing priorities.

  • Familiarity of software development processes, technologies, and trends.

  • Familiarity with some product management and collaboration tools (e.g., Productboard, Jira, Confluence, Asana).

Compensation Overview:

The expected starting salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. This range represents the typical starting compensation offered to candidates hired into this role. Final base salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including location, work experience, skills, knowledge, education, and certifications.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus with a target of 4% of base salary. Actual bonus amounts, if any, are determined at the company’s sole discretion and may vary based on individual performance, company performance, and market conditions. This role may also be eligible for an equity grant or purchase option. These components make up your total compensation package, which will be reviewed in greater detail during your initial recruiter conversation.
