As a Product Owner at IMO Health, you will play a critical role in managing the Terminology Server platform, ensuring seamless integration and optimization of clinical code systems and medical terminology. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including engineering, content specialists, and solution architects—to manage backlogs, and deliver user stories that drive innovation.
This role requires hands-on experience with clinical coding systems (e.g., SNOMED, LOINC, ICD), familiarity with medical terminology, and a deep understanding of how healthcare organizations use terminology services. Ideally, you have prior experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, NextGen, or Oracle Health/Cerner—either as an implementation specialist, analyst, or similar role—and have collaborated with engineering teams. We are looking for a fast learner who thrives in an agile environment and can bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with the broader product strategy and roadmap, specifically focusing on the Terminology Server platform.
- Translate business needs into well-defined product requirements, epics, and user stories, ensuring acceptance criteria are clearly defined.
- Prioritize features and functionality based on business value, user needs, and technical feasibility.
- Work closely with engineering teams to deliver new features, resolve defects, and ensure high-quality product releases tailored for terminology services.
- Troubleshoot escalated product issues and assist technical service teams in identifying solutions, focusing on API performance and terminology management.
- Stay updated on Agile/Scrum/SAFe best practices and incorporate them into daily workflows.
- Provide training and product updates to internal teams and support customer training when necessary.
- Stay informed about industry trends, particularly in healthcare interoperability, medical terminology, and AI-driven healthcare solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical or healthcare technology setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminologies and clinical code systems (e.g., SNOMED, CPT, LOINC, ICD, RxNorm).
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) (Epic, NextGen, Oracle Health/Cerner) in an implementation, product, or analyst role.
- Familiarity with API implementations and how terminology content is built and maintained within APIs.
- Proven experience collaborating with engineering teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about enhancing terminology services while supporting current customer needs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
- A fast learner with a proactive, "doer" mentality.
- A passion for solving complex problems and driving innovation in the healthcare space.
