Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.
Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.
Come help us bring modern software to modern science.
We’re looking for a Product Operations Specialist who is excited to be at the forefront of AI-powered productivity and passionate about making teams faster and more effective.
In this role, you’ll eliminate toil, automate the obvious, and deliver smart, pragmatic solutions that enable our product, engineering, and design teams to focus on delivering value for customers. You’ll help evolve how we build software by designing lightweight, useful processes and automating the work nobody wants to do more than once.
You’ll support the full Build organization, partnering closely with teams across Applications and Platform. You’ll also help facilitate the Build Council, our forum for aligning product development practices and ensure that the systems, documents, and processes we rely on stay nimble and up to date.
This role is ideal for someone who might otherwise be a solutions consultant, internal tools engineer, or technical program manager, but is drawn to service-oriented, behind-the-scenes impact within a collaborative product org. You’ll combine systems-thinking with hands-on execution using tools like Jira, Slack, Airtable, Confluence, and emerging AI assistants and automations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Build and own automations across Airtable, Slack, Jira, and other systems: Design systems that reduce repetitive work and improve coordination. Automate alerts, syncs, updates, and key rituals using no-code tools, native automation features, and AI assistants.
- Own Airtable as our current product operations platform: Manage structure, automation, and usability of our Airtable bases for product feedback, planning, and reporting. Ensure clean data, smooth workflows, and scalable usage across teams.
- Service-Minded Partner: Be a trusted operational partner to engineering leaders, product managers, and designers. Approach challenges with empathy and pragmatism.
- Jira & Confluence Configuration: Own and evolve the planning infrastructure that powers Benchling’s software development lifecycle, from dashboards and custom fields to automation rules and integrations.
- Build Council Enablement: Support the cross-functional team that steers our product development practices. Help keep systems, documentation, and people aligned as we grow.
- Data-Driven Insights: Build lightweight dashboards and tracking systems that illuminate bottlenecks, trends, and opportunities to improve how we build.
- Process Design & Documentation: Maintain clear, audit-ready references for product lifecycle stages, team rituals, and enablement resources. Be the source of truth for how we work.
- Partner with compliance stakeholders: Work with Security and GxP teams to ensure that tooling and documentation practices meet compliance requirements and support audit readiness.
- Have 2 to 4 years of experience in product operations, internal tools, or a PMO role supporting software teams
- Are fluent in Airtable, including automations, syncs, base design, and interfaces
- Can set up Slack workflows, connect Jira to other tools, and automate common internal tasks
- Are comfortable writing basic SQL and using Mode or Snowflake for operational dashboards
- Love finding and fixing inefficiencies using AI, automation, and thoughtful tooling
- Work independently, follow through reliably, and take pride in making internal systems run smoothly
- Communicate clearly, document well, and bring a helpful, service-oriented approach to your work
Nice to Have
- Experience in enterprise SaaS or life sciences
- Familiarity with GxP and software compliance requirements
Exposure to managing product feedback systems or supporting go-to-market readiness - Comfort evolving tooling and process infrastructure as company needs grow
