IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are pushing past the limits of classical physics and current supercomputing technology to unlock a new era of computing. Quantum computing has the potential to impact every area of human society for the better. IonQ’s computers will soon redefine industries like medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and more. IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.

IonQ is building the world’s most powerful quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex and impactful problems. To support this mission, we are looking for a Product Marketing Manager to help shape how the world sees, understands, and adopts quantum computing.

In this role, you’ll be at the intersection of product strategy, content creation, and go-to-market execution. You’ll help define product positioning and messaging, drive the creation of technical and thought leadership content, and ensure a cohesive story reaches our key audiences—customers, partners, developers, and the broader market.

You will partner closely with product, engineering, sales, communications, and external vendors to drive marketing outcomes across the entire funnel. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for a marketer who thrives in nascent, rapidly evolving technology landscapes.

Key Responsibilities and Focus Areas:

Product Marketing

  • Define and evolve positioning and messaging for IonQ’s products and solutions across key customer segments.
  • Translate complex quantum concepts into clear, differentiated value propositions tailored to business and technical audiences.
  • Support the development of product marketing frameworks, messaging architectures, and competitive narratives.
  • Create and scale enablement tools and sales collateral for a growing go-to-market organization.
  • Partner with sales, product, and comms to support launches, announcements, and major milestones.
  • Support Account-Based Marketing and integrated campaigns with product-focused content and messaging.

Content Marketing

  • Support the ownership of content and execution across IonQ’s content calendar spanning blog, social, email, and web in collaboration with internal teams and agency partners.
  • Produce and manage content across the funnel from awareness and thought leadership to conversion and sales enablement.
  • Create content for major product launches, ecosystem announcements, and technical storytelling initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional content production efforts across text, graphics, video, and multimedia.
  • Support the development and maintenance of editorial processes to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment to brand and technical standards.
  • Measure and optimize content performance to drive engagement, brand authority, and lead generation.

You’d be a good fit with:

  • 5 - 7+ years in product marketing, content marketing, or similar roles in a highly technical field (quantum, AI, cloud, HPC, etc.).
  • Proven ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling messaging and content.
  • Experience developing product marketing messaging frameworks
  • An understanding of integrated marketing campaign strategies and the role of product marketing within them
  • Experience owning content strategy and execution across multiple platforms and formats.
  • Strong writing portfolio, with examples across blog, sales collateral, website, or executive content.
  • Familiarity with inbound marketing, integrated campaigns, and funnel-oriented content creation.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A highly collaborative approach to internal stakeholders, including senior executives

You’d be a great fit with:

  • Experience managing creative and content vendors or agency partners.
  • Knowledge of the quantum computing, HPC, or deep tech ecosystem.
  • Experience working in early-stage or rapidly scaling technology companies.
  • Web content management experience (e.g., Webflow, WordPress, Contenful).
  • Background in product messaging, competitive analysis, or market segmentation.
  • Experience managing external vendors and agency partners

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
