Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.
Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.
Come help us bring modern software to modern science.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is seeking a senior Product Marketing Manager to own the marketing strategy and go-to-market for our Development portfolio.  In this role, you will help define how modern biotech teams develop, scale, and manufacture life-changing therapies using data, software, and AI.
This role is ideal for a strong generalist Product Marketing leader who thrives in growth-stage environments and wants real strategic ownership.
You will operate as a strategic partner to Product, Sales, Marketing and senior executive leadership - owning key market decisions while remaining a hands-on senior individual contributor shaping positioning, launches, and GTM execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own the Development marketing strategy: Define segmentation, positioning, and narrative for Benchling’s Development portfolio.
  • Lead go-to-market: Own GTM strategy and execution for new and existing products, from launch planning through field readiness and scaling adoption.
  • Be the voice of the customer: Synthesize customer insights, market trends, and competitive intelligence into clear recommendations for leadership.
  • Shape product direction: Influence roadmap prioritization by bringing clear market insights, customer feedback, and competitive perspective.
  • Build clear, compelling messaging: Translate complex scientific and technical capabilities into differentiated value for Development scientists, IT leaders, and executives.
  • Enable the field: Deliver high-quality positioning and enablement that helps Sales and Solutions teams win with confidence.
  • Drive revenue impact: Partner with Product and Revenue leaders to develop annual and quarterly plans tied to pipeline, ARR, and expansion.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Benchling has a clear, differentiated Development narrative in the market
  • Sales and Solutions teams confidently position Development use cases
  • Product decisions reflect market-driven prioritization
  • Development products show strong adoption and expansion momentum
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Marketing or related roles at high-growth B2B SaaS, AI, or enterprise technology companies
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and experience operating with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to move between strategy and execution in ambiguous environments
  • Experience translating complex products into clear, compelling stories
  • Curiosity and appetite to learn biotech Development workflows and regulated environments
  • Background in biotech, life sciences software, or scientific tooling is a plus, not a prerequisite

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
