ABOUT COMPYL

Compyl is a high-growth, venture-backed GRC and automated security compliance platform built by security practitioners for security practitioners. Founded in 2020 by two former Chief Information Security Officers, we replace the spreadsheets, point tools, and consulting engagements security teams have relied on with a single, all-in-one platform that automates evidence collection, control mapping, audit preparation, and continuous monitoring. We're backed by Venture Guides, Contour Venture Partners, and Armory Square Ventures.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring a Director of Product Marketing to own how the market understands Compyl, from core positioning to the story behind our agentic AI layer. You'll translate a genuinely technical product into messaging that lands with CISOs and the practitioners who report to them, and lead go-to-market for a roadmap that's moving from evidence collection toward autonomous remediation.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role. You'll set the positioning foundation, ship the launch plays, and build the product marketing function largely from scratch, with real input into how it grows from here.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own Positioning & Messaging

  • Define Compyl's core narrative and product positioning, and adapt it across our audiences, from CISOs who need board-ready risk in dollar terms to practitioners buried in evidence collection and questionnaire busywork

  • Set the market story for Compyl's agentic AI layer as it evolves from automation to autonomous remediation, making the case for why it's trustworthy and auditable, not just fast

Lead Product Launches & GTM

  • Own go-to-market for new capabilities end to end, from launch narrative and sales assets to coordinating timing and rollout across product, sales, and demand gen

  • Partner with Product on packaging and positioning as the AI layer matures

Build Competitive Intelligence

  • Track the GRC and compliance automation landscape and build battlecards that arm sales with sharp, honest positioning against point-solution competitors and legacy players

Drive Sales Enablement

  • Equip sales with the pitch, demo narrative, objection handling, and case studies they need to sell confidently

  • Get in front of prospects and customers regularly to know what's actually working in the field

Own Industry & Persona Messaging

  • Build out messaging for key verticals, financial services, healthcare, legal, insurance, energy & utilities, and higher ed, where the frameworks and buyers differ but the platform story holds

  • Partner with customer marketing on case studies, proof points, and our presence with analysts and on G2

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Expertise in product marketing, with meaningful time in B2B SaaS; security, compliance, GRC, or another audience that sells to technical/security buyers is a strong plus

  • A track record of owning positioning and messaging for a product with real technical depth, and making it land with both technical and executive buyers

  • Experience leading product launches end to end, not just writing the announcement

  • Strong, clear writing, you can turn "AI agents that draft evidence blueprints grounded in your own data" into something a CISO immediately gets

  • Comfort working closely with sales, running enablement sessions, sitting in on calls, and iterating based on what you hear in the field

  • Experience marketing an AI-driven product and navigating how to talk about AI credibly with a security-minded audience

  • A builder's mindset, you want to define the playbook for this function, not just execute someone else's

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Competitive salary and meaningful equity participation at a Series A inflection point. Comprehensive paid benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and generous leave policies.

WHY COMPYL

Own the narrative on real AI, not a bolt-on: Compyl's agentic AI layer is central to the product story. You'll shape how the market understands and trusts it, from day one.

Category-defining market: GRC and automated compliance is one of the fastest-growing segments in enterprise software. The tailwinds are structural, not cyclical.

Real product, real traction: Healthy customer growth, a platform built by practitioners who understand the buyer.

Series A momentum: Backed by Venture Guides, Contour Venture Partners, and Armory Square Ventures, with the capital and conviction to scale aggressively.

Autonomy, no bureaucracy: No micromanagement. You're trusted as the expert and given room to build the function your way.

Meaningful equity: Significant equity participation at a valuation inflection point.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Compyl is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sex (including gender identity, pregnancy, and sexual orientation), age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or any legally protected status under federal, state, or local law.

Applicants with disabilities may be entitled to reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or applicable state/local laws. To request accommodation during the application process, please contact Jaymes Nowicki, Head of Talent Acquisition.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
