Role OverviewThe Product Manager for Timekeeping will own the product strategy and roadmap for the tools that ensure hundreds of thousands of entertainment industry crew members get paid correctly, efficiently, and compliantly—every single week. From Academy Award-winning films to Emmy-nominated series across the US, Canada, and internationally, your work impacts every crew member on set. From grips and electricians wrapping after 16-hour days, to department heads managing their teams' paperwork, to payroll accountants racing against union deadlines to process hundreds of timecards—this role impacts every touchpoint in the production payroll workflow. You'll modernize decades-old timekeeping processes with mobile-first, context-aware tools that handle the industry's most complex labor rules while actually delighting users in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations. Your Impact
- Reimagine timekeeping for the modern production environment. Design mobile-first tools that make it fast and effortless for crew members to submit their hours. The system handles complex union rules, rate calculations, and allowances automatically—so crew can focus on their craft while we ensure they get paid correctly.
- Orchestrate a seamless workflow across three critical user groups. Create experiences that work together for crew members, department heads, and payroll accountants—ensuring timecards flow efficiently from submission to processing while meeting tight union deadlines.
- Transform a mission-critical process into a competitive advantage. Modernize legacy timekeeping workflows to position Cast & Crew as the clear choice for productions that demand both operational excellence and delightful user experiences.
- Pioneer AI-powered timekeeping intelligence. Leverage machine learning to automatically detect errors, suggest corrections, and predict compliance issues before they become problems—reducing manual review time while improving accuracy.
- Drive measurable outcomes that matter. Define success metrics across accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and user satisfaction—demonstrating the strategic value of timekeeping innovation to both customers and Cast & Crew leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Timekeeping products, aligning with Cast & Crew's overall business objectives and customer needs
- Identify market opportunities and define differentiated product positioning in the entertainment payroll technology space
- Champion innovation while balancing the needs of a mature product line serving critical production workflows
Discovery & Research
- Conduct user research with crew members, department heads, and payroll accountants to deeply understand pain points, workflows, and unmet needs
- Analyze industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform product decisions
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to validate problems worth solving and solutions worth building
Roadmap Planning & Execution
- Define and prioritize features based on customer impact, business value, technical feasibility, and strategic alignment
- Create detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, UX, Operations, and Customer Success to deliver high-quality releases on time
- Make informed trade-off decisions when faced with competing priorities or constraints
Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, and clients to understand needs and gather feedback
- Present product strategy, roadmaps, and progress updates to executive leadership
- Build strong relationships across the organization to align priorities and ensure product success
- Manage expectations and communicate changes effectively to both internal and external stakeholders
Go-to-Market & Adoption
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop compelling product positioning and messaging
- Create enablement materials and support successful product launches
- Define and track key metrics to measure product adoption, usage, and customer satisfaction
- Drive continuous improvement based on customer feedback and performance data
Qualifications
Must Have
- 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in B2B SaaS, fintech, or enterprise software
- Proven track record of shipping successful products that solve real customer problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working in agile development environments with cross-functional teams
- Deep empathy for users and passion for creating delightful product experiences
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive clarity in complex situations
Nice to Have
- Experience in the entertainment industry, payroll, or HR technology
- Technical background or ability to engage credibly with engineering teams
- Experience building or managing AI/ML-powered products or features
- Experience with mobile product development
- Understanding complex business rules, compliance requirements, or regulated industries
- MBA or relevant advanced degree
