Founded in March 2025, Kilo Code is a remote-first startup building the fastest-growing AI coding agent. We're already generating over 6T tokens per month (top of the leaderboard) with over 500,000 installs. Our open-source, high-output team includes a 15-person engineering org with an average of 15 years of experience. Co-founded by Sid Sijbrandij (co-founder of GitLab and UBoatWorx) and Scott Breitenother (founder of Brooklyn Data Co), we're growing quickly to 35 people. We meet in-person for a focus week every quarter and expect high agency to deliver results in a fast dynamic environment.
Role OverviewAs our first Product Manager, you'll set the strategy and vision for the core extension and workflows that most users interact with on a day-to-day basis. You’ll work very closely with our engineers to shape our AI tools for individual developers and development stakeholders (e.g., engineering managers). You'll represent the user, driving product strategy in a crowded market by focusing on competitive differentiation, user needs, and efficient MVPs. This senior role requires 6-10 years of product experience, deep technical fluency to collaborate with our seasoned engineers, and a startup mindset to thrive with broad agency.
ResponsibilitiesUnderstand and represent our two key user personas: individual developers and enterprise stakeholders like engineering managers.
Gather user feedback, analyze the current product experience (e.g., VS Code extension, CLI agent), and prioritize features based on impact.
Develop long-term product vision, including future developments like cloud agents and AI code review tools.
Monitor competitors, identify differentiation opportunities, and craft strategies to win in the devtools space.
Collaborate with tech leads and engineers on technical feasibility, estimates, and architecture—ensuring fluent technical conversations.
Own roadmaps and project prioritization, focusing on 80/20 solutions and MVPs to ship value quickly.
Work cross-functionally with our engineering manager, tech lead, and customer teams to align on goals and handle interruptions.
Drive high-output processes in our remote setup, contributing to a culture of agency and rapid iteration.
(This list is not exhaustive; as an early-stage company, you'll shape the role.)
