You are a hands-on, highly motivated Product Manager who will own Ocrolus’s data products and analytics offering within the Small and Medium Business (SMB) lending vertical. As Product Manager, you will be an expert on building data-driven insights for SMB lending, and you will work cross-functionally to create a cohesive, high-impact product strategy that empowers lenders to underwrite, price, and manage risk more effectively.

You will partner with engineering and data science teams to translate complex data and research questions—spanning benchmarking, predictive modeling, underwriting metrics, and industry trends—into actionable products and insights. Your work will shape the future of SMB lending and fuel data innovation across Ocrolus.

What you’ll do:
  • Craft and own the SMB lending data & analytics product roadmap, prioritizing features based on customer value, market need, and data science feasibility.
  • Partner with Ocrolus’s engineering and data science teams to deliver products that answer core questions for SMB lenders, such as:
    • How industries and geographies are trending in application volumes, cash flow health, and approval performance.
    • Which underwriting metrics are most predictive of outcomes such as approval, default, and renewal.
    • How lenders can benchmark merchant applications for credit across industries and geographies.
    • How to identify high-quality originators, broker partners, and merchants using data-driven scoring.
    • How AI and analytics can surface underwriting red flags or recommend focal points in merchant cash flow.
  • Write clear product requirements, business cases, and strategy documents to bring these insights to life.
  • Represent Ocrolus’s SMB data and analytics suite externally to clients, partners, and prospects as a subject matter expert.
  • Build KPIs and dashboards to monitor product performance and adoption, and iterate quickly on learnings.
  • Educate internal stakeholders and collaborate with GTM teams to ensure seamless delivery and adoption.
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of new data products, from rapid prototyping to phased rollouts and full launches.

In addition, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of all Ocrolus solutions and integrate SMB lending data capabilities across verticals
  • Explore new market opportunities for analytics-driven products in partnership with lenders, banks, and fintechs.
  • Proactively nurture client relationships to ensure insights deliver measurable value.
What you’ll bring:
  • A passion for building data products that empower SMB lenders, with curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deep sense of ownership.
  • Minimum of 3 years of strong product management experience.
  • Ability to write/query databases using SQL, comfort with working in a hands-on fashion with a team of data scientists, ability to present and explain  visual representations of data
  • Experience with SMB lending, credit, or fintech (preferred).
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with data science and engineering teams to translate complex analyses into intuitive products.
  • Comfort leveraging AI as a tool for product discovery and prototyping  and as a core component of the solutions you build. You must partner with data scientists to translate AI-driven insights into intuitive, high-value products for SMB lenders.
  • Strong client-facing skills and ability to articulate data insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Track record of driving measurable product adoption and business outcomes.
  • Ability to navigate setbacks and iterate quickly toward better solutions.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Background in data science, analytics, or financial modeling.
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field; MBA a plus.

Note:

The full-time salary range for this role is around $150,000 + equity + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
