Job Description Summary:

Position Overview

As a Product Manager for ModMed's Clinical EHR platform, you will play a crucial role in planning, developing, and executing the roadmap for clinical documentation and the broader set of in-practice operational workflows that surround it — including tasking, office workflow, document management, and in-platform communication (e.g., patient/staff messaging, mail). You will oversee the methodology and processes used to define the product, describe features, facilitate design, and support development. You must balance strategic and tactical needs to maintain the product's relevance in a highly regulated specialty EHR market, and serve as an advocate for the team developing the product through active involvement and availability.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow within the healthcare software space and leverage your clinical workflow and practice-operations knowledge to enhance ModMed's specialty EHR platform (EMA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the roadmap for clinical documentation and adjacent practice-operations workflows — tasking, office workflow, document management, and communication/messaging — balancing clinical accuracy with day-to-day practice efficiency.

  • Understand the needs of the market, providers, front/back-office staff, and key internal stakeholders, and apply that knowledge to execute a roadmap that meets company and customer goals.

  • Effectively present and communicate the strategic vision and tactical details of the roadmap, both internally and externally.

  • Produce informational materials (slide decks, requirement docs, customer communications) to illustrate product strategy, features, and releases.

  • Collaborate with Engineers and Engineering leadership, QA teams, other Domain/Specialty Leads, clinical SMEs, and customers to define business and clinical requirements, using data and provider/staff feedback to drive decision-making.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI planning, standups) to ensure alignment between product and engineering.

  • Work with the Release Train Engineer and Engineering leadership on refinement and release processes.

  • Convert requirements into clearly defined features that can be job sized, owning them through their lifecycle with clarity on scope, clinical/operational accuracy, technical feasibility, and acceptance criteria.

  • Define/document epics to drive delivery and track key capabilities (e.g., clinical documentation, task management, document/fax/mail workflows, staff-to-patient communication).

  • Work cross-functionally on software release management and rollout documentation.

  • Manage alpha & beta releases, including provider/staff interaction and feedback through launch.

  • Actively contribute to company and departmental goals.

  • Champion the use of AI tools throughout the product development lifecycle — e.g., AI-assisted requirements drafting and refinement, acceptance-criteria generation, test-case generation, and code-assist tools in partnership with Engineering — to increase team velocity and quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in healthcare tech, managing a roadmap and/or creating functional requirements (use cases/user stories, clinical and practice-operations workflows, technology requirements).

  • Working knowledge of clinical workflows and EHR/EMR functionality required — e.g., clinical documentation, orders/results, clinical decision support. Experience with practice-operations features (tasking, document management, messaging/communication tools) is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with healthcare quality/compliance frameworks (HEDIS, MIPS/MACRA, ONC certification, meaningful use) is a strong plus.

  • Well-developed presentation skills for varied audiences, including clinicians, office staff, customers, and executives.

  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and comfort in a fast-paced environment.

  • Confidence in decision-making and advocating for decisions to ensure roadmap support and appropriate prioritization.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities/deadlines while self-directed and well-organized.

  • Ability to collaborate, actively listen, and independently drive meetings across Engineering, Product, UX, clinical SMEs, and customers.

  • Familiarity with Jira/Confluence and Google Suite a plus.

  • Familiarity with Agile/SAFe methodologies a plus.

  • Hands-on experience using AI tools as part of the SDLC (e.g., ChatGPT/Claude/Copilot or similar for requirements writing, research synthesis, test-case generation, or prototyping) is a strong plus.

  • Acts as an agent of change fostering a provider- and staff-centric quality culture, driving measurable improvements through enhancements and automation.

  • Track record working with distributed teams across countries/time zones.

  • Some travel expected (<25%).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
