As a Product Manager II at Datadog, you will lead the development of monitoring capabilities for data streams and enhance customer solutions by collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Datadog, we're on a mission to build the best platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams. We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—allowing for seamless collaboration and problem-solving among Dev, Ops and Security teams globally for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

Data streaming and asynchronous communications have become essential aspects of event driven applications and data pipelines, and yet are particularly complex to troubleshoot and optimize. Our Data Streams Monitoring team is looking for a driven product manager excited to dive into this complexity and transform these problems for our customers from being elusive to being easy to identify and easy to solve. This PM has the passion, curiosity and drive to discover problems and ship solutions for these customers and environments.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the latest issues our customers are having with their streaming data pipelines and event driven applications, and how they are operationalized across SRE teams, data teams and application developers. Continuously refine your understanding of these technologies e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, Spark Streaming, AWS Kinesis, Azure Event Hub, Google Pub/Sub, Flink, etc.

  • Co-define and build the next generation of monitoring and optimization capabilities for data streaming and data pipelines for our customers alongside an amazing engineering and design team

  • Collaborate with other product teams in Datadog to maintain and improve all Datadog products, improve the seamless integration across them, and help customers identify incidents root cause and navigate through telemetry faster

  • Partner with marketing and cross functional teams including sales, customer success and support teams, to define Go-To-Market plans and strategy for Data Streams monitoring, Data Observability, and APM features

Who You Are:

  • You have 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager (ideally working on an analytics or developer focused SaaS product)

  • You have either worked as a data engineer previously or possess a deep interest, understanding and knowledge in data engineering

  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the willingness to present and defend your ideas to technical stakeholders and executives alike

  • You are customer focused with high quality standards for your products

  • You are passionate to work in a high growth and impact environment to build new products and scaling existing ones

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We know not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That’s okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your experience, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits & Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)

  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing

  • Intra-departmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking

  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds

  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions

  • Free, global Spring Health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+

  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
