Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

Our Product Marketing Managers imagine the ideal experience for our community and work backwards, creating innovative products that delight our guests and Hosts. They deeply understand the needs of our users and translate these into a strategy that combines strong product thinking and deep research. They partner with talented cross-functional team members across engineering, design, operations, data science, and more, leading teams to execute a shared vision. They are incredibly detail-oriented and hands on.

The Difference You Will Make:

You will be part of the team responsible for product roadmaps and launches at Airbnb. You will drive specific features that are part of every launch and determine how they are communicated to the external world. You are responsible for the success of Airbnb products throughout their life cycle — from concept to release and ongoing iteration. And their cross-functional work ensures a consistent product voice across all the products being developed at Airbnb.

In this position you will be the owner of the roadmap for discounts and promotions and how they work within our broader set of pricing tools for the millions of hosts in our community. Working closely with your cross-functional partners across the business and guest experience teams, you will own the roadmap for both evergreen discounts and targeted promotions that help hosts increase their earnings through more competitive prices and increased guest visibility. In addition, you will be working closely with our data science and analytics teams to develop the targeting and business strategy using programmatic Airbnb funded promotions and build the capabilities to execute these campaigns at scale.

Success is defined by how well our discounts and  promotions drive help hosts succeed in increasing earnings and also driving price competitiveness on Airbnb overall. To be successful, the right candidate will be deeply grounded in understanding host needs and concerns and able to distill those into simple, delightful products that are well received and effectively used.

A Typical Day:

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for discount and promotional pricing tools that help hosts win bookings and maximize earnings.
  • Design the mechanics of promotional offers that balance host flexibility with guest value.
  • Build the tools to deliver global, event-aligned promotional campaigns — tying discounts to demand moments and merchandising visibility in exchange for host participation.
  • Architect a programmatic promotions engine that flexes pricing incentives by market, timing, and demand signal to close supply-demand gaps.
  • Turn pricing and promotions data into a story — craft the narrative that gets hosts, partners, and internal teams bought into new discount tools.
  • Set a high bar for product craft and quality — bring a sharp intuition for what makes a pricing or promotions experience feel great, not just function, and hold the roadmap, team, and cross-functional partners to that standard while shipping with speed and clear, measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with Design and Eng to ship pricing features fast, and with FP&A, Marketing, Ops, and Trust to make sure promotions run cleanly at scale.
  • Set sharp goals and OKRs for promotional adoption, discount redemption, and marketplace impact — then execute against them with urgency.
  • Develop pricing and promotions expertise through host research, marketplace/booking data, and competitive benchmarking (e.g., dynamic pricing, coupon systems, flash sales in other marketplaces).

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years of product management experience.
  • Experience with developing pricing tools especially around promotions in marketplaces.
  • Experience creating product messaging and delivering to customers and the media.
  • Demonstrated track record of product leadership.
  • Built and scaled global consumer products and ecosystems that people love.
  • Entrepreneurial track record of taking an idea to reality.
  • Experience working on consumer products with a financial component.
  • A strong ability to effectively use data and perform business analysis to support product strategy/decisions.
  • Excited to drive execution across teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to do individual contributor product management work.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
