Our platform computes millions of invoices per billing period and is scaling rapidly to accommodate new customers, saving them hours of development time and manual invoicing and enabling them to use consumption data to better serve their customers. Our customers love our product and approach, and we’re humbled to work with amazing companies like OpenAI, Databricks, NVIDIA, Confluent, and Anthropic.

You'll be joining an experienced team that includes founders who have successfully built and sold startups before. Our founders and employees also have direct experience building and scaling teams through massive growth at companies like Dropbox, Clever, and New Relic. On the back of this experience and our success-to-date, we’ve raised over $128M from leading investors including NEA, Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Elad Gil, and Workday Ventures. We’re also proud to have founders and executives of companies like Segment, Plaid, Looker, Gitlab, Confluent, HashiCorp, and Snowflake, as investors who have experienced the pain we're solving firsthand.

About the Role

Our Developer Platform team owns the ingestion, management, and real-time observability layers that sit between a customer’s data pipelines and Metronome’s billing engine. As the Product Manager leading this area, you will shape how enterprise engineering teams:

  • Ingest any data volume, from anywhere – Deliver low-latency, high-throughput options (warehouse loaders, Kafka/Deltashare connectors, on-prem agents, APIs) that let customers stream, batch, or backfill usage data of any size.
  • Achieve real-time observability – Give customers a single pane to query raw events, audit every transformation, and monitor system health in seconds—not hours.
  • Ensure end-to-end transparency & auditability – Surface API traces, webhook history, and user actions so clients can meet rigorous compliance requirements and debug faster.
  • Detect risk proactively – Enable monitoring on any metric—from ingest lag to invoice finalization—to prevent revenue-impacting incidents before they happen.

Your mandate: make Metronome the most transparent, reliable, and flexible revenue infrastructure on the planet.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Developer Platform ingestion & observability capabilities.
  • Spend significant time with enterprise engineering and FinOps teams to deeply understand their data-scale challenges and translate them into product outcomes.
  • Work day-to-day with engineering and design to scope, sequence, and ship features that balance reliability, performance, and compliance.
  • Partner with Solutions Architecture, Customer Success, and Sales to ensure successful deployments and to feed learnings back into product iteration.
  • Define and track success metrics that demonstrate improved data ingest speed, incident recovery time, and customer satisfaction.
Impact You'll Have
  • World-class developer experience – Customers can integrate once and trust that every byte is auditable, queryable, and billable.
  • Lightning-fast recovery – Clients resolve incidents in minutes thanks to granular telemetry and pre-built monitors.
  • Roadmap clarity – Internal teams and customers always know what platform capabilities are coming next and why.
  • Culture amplifier – Engineering, Design, and GTM stay tightly aligned on solving the highest-impact problems.
Qualifications
  • Developer-product pedigree – 4+ years building platform, API, infra, analytics, or observability products used directly by software engineers.
  • Customer intensity – Proven record of working hands-on with a large number of enterprise or high-growth customers (e.g., ownership of beta programs, on-site workshops, or complex integrations).
  • Strong technical fluency (CS degree or equivalent experience) and ability to reason from first principles.
  • High ownership and crisp prioritization in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with logs/metrics platforms (e.g., Datadog, Splunk), event pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis), or financial/usage data systems.
  • Early product hire at a hyper-growth B2B startup; experience building or scaling a PM team.
Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $171,200 - $214,000. In addition to your base salary, Metronome offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched equity, sales incentive pay (for eligible roles), comprehensive health benefits, and other benefits listed below.

The actual base salary will vary based on factors including market value, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process, and previous experience. The listed range above should serve as a guideline and may be modified at any time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
