🚀 About Compa

Compa is a venture-backed SaaS startup revolutionizing the future of compensation.

In a dynamic job market with hiring challenges, accountability, and the rise of AI, companies need the best data to stay ahead of industry changes, competition, and costs. Compa has developed the premier real-time compensation data platform, delivering top-tier compensation intelligence to leading enterprise teams.

Compa is a compensation intelligence company built to augment enterprise compensation teams in the era of AI.

Our customers include the world’s biggest companies: Apple, NVIDIA, Tesla, Mastercard, T-Mobile, Sanofi, Moderna, Gilead Sciences, and more.

🎨 About the role

You’ll own one of Compa’s core data products and run it like a startup inside the company — setting the vision, carving the roadmap, and driving ship-to-learn execution. Think end-to-end ownership: market discovery, user research, sequencing experiments, aligning Design and Eng, partnering with GTM and CS to land value. Big surface area, high autonomy, direct line to the exec team — perfect spot for a PM who loves turning messy signals into sharp strategy and measurable impact.

About Compa’s Data Products Compa’s data products transform compensation data into actionable insights for our users — from aggregate market benchmarks to real-time pricing trends and internal pay analytics. These products span user-facing dashboards, embedded workflow analytics, and APIs that power automation and decision support for compensation teams. Data is our raw material; the product is clarity, speed, and confidence in every pay decision.

You’ll be the fourth PM on a lean squad, report to our Director of Product, and have your fingerprints on how Compa builds as we scale.

  • Craft and relentlessly refine your product’s strategy

  • Define and track success metrics for quality and performance

  • Talk to users constantly — shadow workflows, run lightweight usability tests, and validate pain points to inform what we build

  • Partner with senior leadership to understand and uphold our ambitions for quality at scale

  • Work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with CS, engineering, and design to ship iteratively. No ivory towers

  • Write tight, no-fluff PRDs. (Though we do love our metaphors.)

  • Evangelize the product internally and externally; turn skeptics into believers

👋 About you
  • Strong communication — you tell the story without the buzzword bingo

  • Highly influential spoken and written communication with XFN leaders, technical leaders, and customers

  • Low ego, with an appetite to build, and employ good judgment in making hard trade-offs with limited resources

  • Proven 0 → 1 execution — you’ve launched something from concept to revenue.

  • Get things done, are incredibly resourceful, and have an ownership mindset

  • Bias to action — shipping trumps perfect.

  • Experience creating new XFN process when it serves the team and deleting process when it is the team serving the process

  • Experience at a growth-stage startup

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
