Job Description:

We believe in bold ideas, diverse perspectives, and the drive to transform knowledge into impact. Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About the Role:

The Product Manager, Applied Research Intelligence helps build Wiley’s AI platform for life-sciences research and development — products that help scientists and R&D teams turn the world’s scientific literature and data into faster, better-evidenced decisions. Working across the platform, you will partner with product, design, engineering, and data science to move features and improvements from idea to launch, and to keep what we build grounded in how researchers actually work.

You will contribute to product discovery with researchers and R&D users, help shape requirements and priorities, and track how your work performs once it ships. You’ll collaborate closely with senior product managers and the wider team across several workstreams, bringing the perspective of the life-sciences user to everyday product decisions. This is a hands-on role with room to grow as the team and platform mature.

Qualifications
  • Product management experience (typically 5+ years) on B2B / enterprise software — ideally data, analytics, AI/ML, or platform products — contributing to products from discovery through launch.
  • Experience working in, or closely alongside, research and development in pharmaceutical or life-sciences organizations, with a good understanding of how scientists and research teams work.
  • Ability to turn customer and market insight into clear requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Comfort with technical concepts — data, APIs, and AI/LLM-driven workflows — and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and data science.
  • Sound prioritization and judgment in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, drawing on both qualitative and quantitative evidence.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across internal product, design, engineering, and commercial teams as well as external integration partners.
  • Experience contributing to a product or product line that scaled to $50M+ in revenue, from build through launch.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a life-sciences field.
  • Familiarity with scientific informatics tooling (ELN/LIMS, Benchling-class tools), knowledge graphs, or systematic-review and evidence-synthesis workflows.

We power infinite possibilities.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
